i think our motto for the coming season should be this: stronger!
The last words uttered by SAF during his press conference after the game were "Next season, we will be stronger!". Would be quite apt.

Notice something this year?We lost 2 trophies and the backlash after each one was worse than what the dippers got for completing 19 years without a title.Hate doesn't even come close to what the media cunts feel about United and SAF.

Off topic:Another thing.Van Der Sar has played in 2 consecutive Champions League finals twice and has won the first time and lost the second.

Just imagine the papers if the dippers win the title. It would be the world's biggest love-in.

@ Costas and theboogeyman:

i think thats what sets us apart. We are EXPECTED to sweep the trophies, the bin-dippers are EXPECTED to say "Next year". Whenever either of these two do anything other than what they are expected, the world goes topsy turvy.
I like it this way. Don't you?

I love it that way.Rubbing it in the media's and the dipper's face. What a feeling!!

I definitely love it like this.I would never want the Sun or the Mirror in our corner.

@Boogeyman:ANd VDS has lost both finals in Rome. That ground doesn't suit him.

The anti- United feeling is quite unbelievable, I don't quite understand it but I wouldn't!

Was listening to Talkshite last night and they were asking Liverpool fans to call in to ask if they celebrated like liverpool had won, then they started playing some fucking beatles song!

What would they do without United? Tossers!

@costas : you know what. i see it in a positive way that everybody expects us to do well in all competitions and SAF, the coaching staff, the players, the fans all believe that we should be winning things and that makes us better every year and even our squad. there will be expectations every year from us.
as somebody said the other day, Fergie has targeted minimum 2 trophies per season.not bad eh ?
those all who hate us and with media hype and expectations that we should be winning trophies, it only makes us believe more that we are the best and we should be winning things.

I like that pic. I've been ignoring sports news apart from the club website and this blog since that night in Rome.

You were 2 in 96?I was 13.God,i feel like an old bastard!Yes,Ajax lost the final to Juventus in Rome on penalties.Like us,Ajax were the defending champions.VDS has kept a clean sheet in Rome.Last year when we won 2-0 there. It's the only time he enjoyed playing there. When we lost 2-1 there in 07,he made a mistake for the second goal goal.

Was he in goal for that match?I thought it was PIG.Pique and Ronaldo scored.Ronaldo's was one of the best headers I've ever seen.Scholes' vision to see Ronaldo charging into the box,Ronaldo's pace, that delightful chipped pass, and the header that absolutely flew into the net.Brilliant.

any thought about next season you guys? Selling and bying.
i dont think we need anything in defence. With the young defendes we have, and with Wes Brown coming back.
Midfeld: Sell ronaldo and Nani. Use the money for a good winger and an out and out striker. Park can stay, eventhough hes not the best of footballers. Hargreaves will be like a new signing for us.
Attack: Let Tevez leave, hes not worth the money, and seems to be all to happy to talk to the press. I still think we need a striker who likes to be on the line of offside and poking the balls in.

You agree or disagree? Would be nice to hear your thoughts.

thx

get a hold of yourself mate! though i said something similar myself (hypocrite me? :P), i don't think thats the way to go!
selling Ronaldo is not the solution. nor is selling Tevo.
I wouldn't sell Nani, not now, not for the next 2 seasons.
i just think a revision in terms of the players and their roles for next season is needed. we already have atleast 2-3 players for every position mate, plus, in your own words, Hargo will be like a new signing next season, as will Brown!
We just need to sort out the left wing issue. if Zoran can make the step up it would be brilliant.
if we can have a front five of

left wing: Tosic/ new signing (valencia/ribery)
right wing: Nani
Striker: Ronaldo
CF: Rooney
CAM: Berba

i am liking the look.

I understand where your coming from. (i think thats the right expression in english) We cant sell Tevez because we dont own him in the first place, and if he will be moaning about not being first choice i dont see the point in keeping him. Agreed that the left-wing issue needs to be sorted, but i think i've just seen tosic for about 20min this year, so i dont know if hes up for it.
We will see over the next weeks if there is any point in keeping ronaldo, when you think about the big money we could get for him. I don't like they way he went after the manager and his tactics in public, and i dont like the comments made by tevez after the final either. The key to having a good and sucessful team is still the authority of Ferguson.
But i agree with you that a revision in the players' roles is very important.

thx for your answer.

@Boogeyman: We played twice at the Olimpico last year. One was in the group stages when we fielded a second string.PIG played there and Pique scored for a 1-1 draw.In the quarters we went back there and won 2-0 with that Ronaldo header and a second from Rooney.VDS was in goal for the second game.

@ANON
left wing: Tosic/ new signing (valencia/ribery) - yep valencia no ribery
right wing: Nani - hmmm only if he improves
Striker: Ronaldo - yep
CF: Rooney- yep
CAM: Berba - yep

mostly agree with u there.

We lost the final in midfield, poor defensive and pressing work plus non-existent creative and attacking work. Iniesta owned the centre of the pitch.

for 10/11 we need to dominate in midfield and give our attackers the service they need to score goals and win games.

defensively we need a new right back o´shea just doesn´t have the speed and skills.

I will probably get slated for this but giggs, scholes and nev just can´t cut it anymore, they are all legends but we need to let go of their brilliant past and look to the future (da silva twins, gibson, de laet and co.)

tevez can fuck off anywhere he wants to, he has a terrible first touch and all that running around is not effective.

I have faith in SAF he will lead us to more glory in the years to come.

he is going to be supplying the balls? I think we need to put Ronaldo and Rooney out wide but give them more of a free role to come in the center with Berba as a central figure. One of Ronaldo's many complaints about the CL Final was that he doesn't like to be a striker he enjoys cutting in more often. Anyone think we will grab Lennon over Valencia?

Berba is going to be supplying the balls!
the prob i have with Berba on his own is that he tends to get bogged down. that upsets the rhythm.
but the same can work to our advantage if he plays a bit more centrally as defenders running into him would free up space for the wingers and our two central attackers (in this case Rooney and Ronaldo, our best attacking players).
With Berba distributing (something he does efficiently) to our front four of Nani, Roon, ron and whoever plays on the left, we could be pretty potent.
And With Fletch and/or Hargo for cover i'd say we are pretty set.

@ Candice & Suhayl

yeah, to be honest, there's more of a sense of belonging now when some of the so called fans are turning their backs coz we "failed" (we lost a final and not a fucking group stage match)!
And the kind of closeness there is on this forum is testament to that!
keep up the good work guys!
