Andreas Pereira has confirmed that he asked Juan Mata could he take the freekick on the hour mark, which he blasted in to the back of the net for his first goal at the club.

“I asked Juan for the ball and he gave it to me,” Pereira recalled. “We’ve been practising and he trusted me, so I’m very happy with that. Now it’s like a relief. You know that all the work that you’ve done, and now you get to play in the first team. I’m very happy. I just want to keep working harder and harder. Hopefully I can do well, and keep learning and progressing.”

Pereira was also happy to learn that we will be playing Middlesbrough at home in the next round of the competition.

“It’s good that we play at home, for the fans here, and hopefully we can show them again what we are capable of,” he added.
