There has been a lot of fuss regarding Chris Smalling’s foul on Branislav Ivanovic during yesterday’s 1-1 draw against United.
Nothing has been made of the fact that the freekick which lead up to that incident was awarded for nothing. Phil Dowd adjudged that Marouane Fellaini had fouled Filipe Luis, but replays showed that there was no contact.
Regardless, the freekick was given and whilst John Terry wrestled with Marcos Rojo, putting one arm around our defender’s neck and the other on his head. Dowd awarded nothing for that either.
