Afternoon Costas. You're right, but that doesnt take away from the fact, missed chances or not, we did our job and did enough to win the 3 points! We could have missed 50 chances but we still did enough to win. The linesman and only the linesman, cost us the win because he didn't do his job properly.

On the Pacino vs De Niro debate it boils down to Rocky and Bullwinkle vs Gigli.

United.George - Ba was felled by a Terry elbow to the back of the head, a sneaky, vicious, despicable cunt elbow. My commentator said Ba 'landed awkwardly'. Unbelievable!

Chelsea win 3-0...with sturridge's form, the most action that Torres will get is coming in the last 10 minutes of a game if even that.

More wisdom from the announcer on espn: Newcastle fully deserved the 1-1 draw at old trafford last week, but did not deserve to lose today. Huh?

@Mike

It's hard to compare the 3 games anyway I feel. Because we started dominating Newcastle after they went down to 10 men. I definitely agree that if the linesman and (more importantly) the referee did their jobs properly we would have won. And if you look at the refereeing in all 3 games, Newcastle had a big helping hand only at OT.

I just can't blame it entirely on the penalty decision on this occasion. Not for nothing, but the Sunderland game 3 weeks ago should have been a warning sign that you can't feel safe with a goal lead. At any moment the ref can fuck it up for you. The thing that bugs me the most about Newcastle is that freaking Danny Simpson saved that goal line clearance for our game. I doubt he'll ever do that again in his career!

Well maybe things evened out for Newcastle, but we won't get our 2 points back. So that logic is stupid anyway.

1 goal leads are never enough. Hopefully the players bear that in mind when the chance fall their way today and also vs Basle.

Anyway took me the best part of an hour but theres about 5 Japanese kids who now despise John Terry and will spread the word Monday morning. Was very difficult to do without using the word cunt but managed it anyway.

Another football great with a love of alcohol is in intensive care, on dialysis and breathing with the aid of a ventilator. Very sad news indeed.

Get well soon Socrates. Just reading about his career - became pro at age 24. Amazing player.

Maybe they're enjoying themselves too much in training with some of the displays this season? Good to see the team spirit though, hope we can take the 3 points from Villa today. Doubt Young is going to get a good reception though, especially if he creates a few assists.

We dominated the entie second half! Not just the last 15? I know exactly what you mean regarding 1-0 leads and finishing teams off and I wholly agree, but whatever and however people dress it up it's Fact. United did their job regardless of missed chances, to win the game, Newcastle did not. Answer me this, had the linesman not incorrectly given Newcastle a penalty, would United have won 3 points. And their lies the answer.

anybody watching the arsenal wigan game.

The commentator is shouting, really. Like lambasting wigan in such an appalling manner, he should be a disgrace for the commentary society.

After the screwjob at St. James's, it sounds like a rigged affair at White Heart Lane: "It's another early sending off for Bolton but this is very harsh. Gary Cahill takes an unwise touch on the halfway line and is robbed by the dogged Scott Parker. Cahill trips his England team-mate but Parker is tight to the touchline, 50 yards from goal and with several covering defenders in the middle. Referee Stuart Attwell shows a straight red card though when a yellow would have done."

Also from that game: "The Wales winger then removes his boot in a celebration presumably in memory of his former boss Gary Speed." Eh? :?

One more thing: "Chelsea confirm transfer requests have been accepted from striker Nicolas Anelka and defender Alex."

@mikekelly12 - I think we as fans have accepted that we're going to get screwed by the officials. Especially over the last 3 years and when we play chelski. Thats why subconsciously we've set ourselves such high standards in matches, so that when these do occur its no huge loss as we've done enough to win the game. However in football as you well know its not possible to maintain this all the time.

The buck should stop with the officials, but they are defended by the media gods. I saw the sunday supplement clip where they said it was good for us to be on the receiving end of these decisions. As we get some that go our way. They forget the dodgy decisions that go against us when we win by a couple of clear goals. They also conveniently left the Drogba offside goal from a few years ago and Martin Atkinsons 12th man performance for chelski.

We have a right to feel aggrieved and to complain otherwise we're playing right into the ABUs hand and the journos will write the tripe that they like.

Looking like, we'll have to win at Villa. If we play the same way, we played against Benfica and Newcastle, without any referee/linesman fucking us over, we should win. Al Pacino for me. It's close, but just wee Al. ;)

Cedars - No De Niro for me mate. Earlier films anyway like Goodfella,s , Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Heat and so on. More recently his films have been embarrassing. Pacino in Scarface takes some beating though. And Carlito's way. Big fan of Christian Bale too. Not in their league but a fucking good method actor nonetheless. Top drawer in The Fighter.

Fred - Was that a Bale celebration? What is up with that cunt and his pathetic celebrations this season? That fucking little dance he does is cringeworthy. I feel like hammering him when I see it. The Ref's and more importantly linesmen are a fucking joke at present, More so than normal.

Joe Pesci!! Kidding, DeNiro all the way! sure the whole fockers thing is a bit embarassing for someone like him, but Raging Bull and Taxi Driver is class! Much better than Miguel Corleone:)

@KingOfStretfordEnd - Yes the commentator for the wigan game is a bit much with his voice. From the whistle he has been destroying Wigan for any of their plays. FFS, it is Wigan, why is he expecting them to go all out against Arsenal?? They are retreating, they are Wigan!!!

Sir Alec Guinness, then Pacino edges it over Di Nero due to getting the best lines in Godfather (s). But neither can play the breadth of characters that Alec could.

King Eric - it was indeed Bale. Don't see how the BBC live updates person jumped to the conclusion that taking his boot off was a tribute to Gary Speed, but I'll have to see it for myself. As you say, he's well known for his wanky celebrations and this boot thing was probably just another one of them. Decent player though.

De Niro 6, Pacino 4, Garcia 1
