"But I don't want to be on the bench for the rest of my life. When you've experienced how it is to start for United, you would do anything in the world to experience that again."

Looking ahead to the pre-season trips to South Africa and China, Lindegaard added: "When you play for a club like Manchester United every game throughout the season is important.

"These first ones are even more important as they give me the opportunity to show that I'm back to the level I was before my injury."
