A great set of pictures that bring back so many brilliant memories. Can't believe it's been 25 years already as even some of the earlier pictures on there feel like yesterday.

What a magnificent football club Manchester United are, I have always stressed that they are much more than a club but a way of life and what a magnificent manager Sir Alex is... Not just his record which will never be matched, not just his genius in building winning team after winning team over the years but also because he is such a terrific human being. Without doubt the most famous football manager in world football, the boss of the biggest club in world football and yet so damn humble... We have always known that about him of course, me from personal experience having had a run in with him in a hotel lift but all you need to do is watch his facial expressions from the moment he stepped on the OT pitch yesterday and whilst Gill was announcing renaming the stand after him.... For someone so famous, so rich and has had the world at his feet for so long to be this humble is truly amazing...

Sir Alex - I salute you and I love you

How good would it be to be able to sit down and talk to the great man about his years at united, over a bottle of scotch maybe.

I still don´t know what I will do the day Sir Alex retires or dies with the boots on. I started follow english football in my fathers lap at the age of 6..1985. Dad supporting Everton, trying to make me an Evertonian. But for some strange reason thought Manchester Uniteds shirts was much cooler and my dad got me the shirt (fake one from a shop in the canary Islands) and I was the proudest ki in school.

That is the only momory I have when Sir Alex was NOT the special one in United. What are we without him? In my mind Sir Alex IS Manchester United. I will have a crisis of identity the day he retires, and I guess the clu will as well.

Legend i used way to often around here, but my english vocabulary doens´t have any better words, so here we go. THE LEGENDS LEGEND!

Hi my friend, feeling much better thanks, my body is now accepting the drugs I have to take in a better way, I do not feel as wasted when I take them as before. The pain is still unbearable when the drugs wear off but it all should be ok in a couple of weeks or so....

Cheers

Pictures of Sir Alex celebrating a goal, in Champions league final or Carling cup 2 round or whenever is the pictures warming me most. The old fart still celebrates and smiles like a child every fucking time. I just wonder how many goals he has seen during his 25 years in charge.

I have read several reports by posters or journalists asking for Mike Phelan's head.. Is that some sort of a piss take? If the guy was not up for the job would Sir Alex have him there? What a joke

Costas

Really? What match was it buddy? Must have given you some great memories..... Oh and you couldn't help your self with that dig at the medical team eh? bugger hahahahaha

You know me, lol. It was a friendly against Valencia on August 5th 2009 mate. I was on a trip to England at the time and me and my mate decided to make the journey. It took us 30 hours in total, but it was worth it! A lot of fun memories (including the dreaded Mexican waves that didn't seem to end!) and my only complaint was that VDS, Scholes and Giggs didn't play. However, I did see Tom C. score his first goal at OT. There's something special about this lad. ;) At the time I was also secretely hoping that the club would take their chances and make Silva and Valencia an offer, but it never happened.

@Cedars, I think you may have misunderstood. Sir Alex joked in the post-match interview that Phelan knew about the North Stand being renamed and hid it from the boss. So Sir Alex said that Phelan was going to be sacked. That is what posters would've been talking about. I haven't read any other reports about people asking for Phelan to be sacked.

Just a few papers online and they seemed serious with their reviews. Not too bothered with posting links to be honest... Some daft idiots blaming him for our defensive problems....

Costas

Wow some trip, I am sure it was worth it.... Never took you for a closet Silva fan though! A new crush of sorts? :-)

@Cedars

Yeah I guess you could say I was a daytripper. Literally.

I had an eye on Silva and Villa when they were at Valencia and I liked Silva a bit more. I was indifferent to the prospect of him joining us until Ronaldo left. If you looked around Europe at the time, Silva was one of the best wingers out there. Me and KE had a couple of debates about him. He thought he was too skinny and both of us agreed that Valencia were asking for too much. I honestly felt that if he didn't leave Valencia that summer, he'd miss the opportunity to make the move while he was in his prime. Sadly I was wrong. And sadly, he wasn't too skinny for England. Mind you, like I said yesterday, I'd take Nani at his best over him any day.

I remember those chats about Silva at the time.... From the pair I always favored Villa and in ways wanted him at OT more than Silva..... We have neither and in all honesty I am not that fussed about it, after all we have wee Thomas do we not?

SAF....personally other than my dad he is the only person who i look up to when I'm in need of some motivation!
and the greatness of his is he can motivate many people like me without even knowing them!
He is the greatest person in the whole football world for me, Sir Matt Busby would be close second and that is because i wasn't alive when he created the whole original Manchester United theme!

Hey Cedars, Costas
how are you both, the anti wee wes clique! hahaaa...

off topic
I have to say I'm so disappointed at the Consistency of certain Mr. Anderson as I was one of the staunch supporters of him, Hope he picks up & get his head worked out, as i always thought his biggest drawback is his attitude on the pitch

Hi Ancha! Good to have you back. Hope you are well. Anderson definitely doesn't look like the player he was at the start of the season, but we could say the same for Nani, Ashley Young and to a degree Rooney. I do believe that a lot of critisism towards him has been exaggerated and I for one won't give up on him just yet. I even heard that he had 2 good games in 2007 against Arsenal and Liverpool and that's it. That's a lie. He was immense the whole of the 07-08 season and had good spells for the following 3 seasons. Not many of them, but it's not like he's been shit all the time. Imo he lacks consistency and a clear idea about what his position should be.

Cedars- the reason for the Phelan statement is that he knew about the new stand naming so Fergie said in tongue and cheek that he should be sacked.

Fergie is truly a great man...... Teaching the game of football but also teaching the young fledglings life's lessons.

There are way too many examples of how he has men out of boys.
