Good overall performance, with some real quality from Welbeck, De Laet and Neville. Great goal. Some problems highlighted but f**k that. I'm happy.

I thought that Kuczszak did well in goal - some communication problems with Wesley, apart. Two very good saves - especially the salmon-leap and punch on the free kick right after the red card.

forty five fucking quid for that shit. Poor slow game. It was like a practice match. Crowd were getting very frustrated with Nani and rightly so. He can beat a man with ease but his final ball tonight was shocking. Really starting to lose patience with him. Thought Wes played well and Josh King looks excellent. If I was new to the game I would have thought Gibbo was the experienced midfielder not Carrick. Kuscak’s kicking was awful, simply awful. However a great save from the free kick.

Still a good result considering we played the majority with 10 men.

Off topic, sorry, but a paltry 24,000 at the wastelands! Ha! Massive club, enjoy your time there Tevez!

Anybody see Wes Browns backheel on about 27 mins? Caught it nicely in the air and it went straight to Evans.

Joshua King (Norwegian, wouldnt know it by the name) had a positive impact, couple of attempts on goal, and not scared to have an attempt.

Darron Gibson was good again, and isnt afraid to shoot, which is what most of our midfield seem to be like.

The defence was decent tonight, and De Laet did excellent.

Tomasz Kuszczak was great in goal.

Shame Owen didnt get much of the ball.

its in my blood - 24,000. Is that all? Twice as many then some at OT. Jokers.

its in my blood

United only had 51k, 25k short of full, which is about 1/3rd of the ground empty.

Its nothing to do with the clubs, its the fact the competition is essentially worthless.

Completely agree with king eric (bar the 10 men comment,1-0 against wolves is not a good result), there was nothing impressive with this performance whatsoever. Easily one of the dullest matches i've seen in an united shirt.

Carrick (16/18mil) attempted to control a game against a what is pretty much a championship side and pretty much failed if you consider his ability, this was the game for him to take control and bar a few nice passes becasue of the space he was given he didn't deliver. Nani, again, was awful. For a right winger to have no vision when it comes to crossing, let alone beating the first man on any corner/cross/freekick is not good enough-there was at least two times gary 'the legend' neville showed him how to do it.
I get that this was a mix-matched side but that shouldn't matter if these boys are training with the first team, it's wolves for fucks sake against united, with expreienced players thrown in.

Impressive? We've all seen impressive-don't put this match up there with them.

guys dont get me wrong. its easy to blame anyone who played today but neve forget or understimate wolves(premiership class). we played 10 men against 11 men. still we scored 1 and kept clean sheet. its not easy to play 10 against 11 and we all knew it as we watch and some play week in week out so dont blame any one. our lads have done a good job. still they r young and we had 3 experienced players in the pitch two of them just starting from long injury(nev, brown) and the other one hasnt proved since the season started that he can do a job(carrick) overall pretty much we played our promising youngsters but they hav done the job for us. i wasnt happy as u all the way we played but if its 11 vs 11 would hav been a different game in the second half unfotunately we lost fabio early in the game. proud to be a mancunian second time we won with 10 vs 11 since the season started. MANUTD FOR EVE

@mattayo what the hell are you talking about, mate?

We had our second XI up against another premiership side and were 10 against 11 for over an hour. This was undoubtedly a very impressive performance and result in a competition that Fergie really wants us to go far in as it allows him to use his squad and blood his kids.

If you want to watch exhibition football all the time go follow La Liga or MSL. What we saw at OT tonight was how a professional football club grind out the performance and result they need despite the sort of adverse circumstances that would see other teams fold.

Did you see the team City put out and yet just bearly got the job done?

I wonder what Garry was telling Fabio?
Garry: Keep ur head up, U played well!
(Fabio felling sorry for himself, heads down.....Garry follows up to make sure the message is understood)

Garry: Did u get what I just said? Heads up.....you are a champion!

Fantastic finish from Welbeck. I also thought Gibson, De Laet and King when he came on looked impressive.

One major gripe though - if Tosic can't get in ahead of Nani, is he really that bad?

He should have been sacrificed instead of Macheda.

The match was quite poor in bits and pieces, but at least it wasn't as poor as Nani.

islandred1981, Nani should have benn taken off? What then play Owen or Macheda wide right, I don't think so.

actually Myq, he was telling Fabio to hurry up and get off the pitch and get on with it - he said as much in the interview after the game!

Perhaps I am used to watching champiagne football from United's first team, week in, week out, but last night I nearly quite literally fell asleep watching that performance, and it was littered with groans and sighs of frustration - as King Eric said, I would be bloody mad if I had to pay £45.00 to watch that.

Nani - I want him to do well, I really do, but the amount of times he kicked the ball straight at the player in front of him was preposterous, I fear if he continues in the same vein he will be shipped out. I know he is young, I can appreciate that, but there was virtually no pressure last night, and a professional footballer of his supposed ability should thrive in those situations.

Carrick - I liked him, I really did, but he just doesn't seem to have any heart or gumption... severely lacking in testicular fortitude. I know he can play killer balls, I have seen him do it, but the lad needs to get his head right, and quick smart, because United don't have any room for passangers, and he is quickly becoming one.

Like I said, perhaps I am too used to awesome football from the stars of United, but last nights performance did not instill any faith in me for our future, 10 men or not...

last night was a steady performance 10 men they could have got at us a lot more then they did. wolves have quite impressive record against us in 91 games they have won 33 games which is more then most teams especially because they have hardly been in the premiership. their left back shud have been booked some of the tackles he made. owen struggled apart from a couple of balls he made and then the killer ball to wellbeck. good finish by danny gd to see a young local lad doin good hes scored in the prem fa cup and league cup. def one for the future. feel sorry for macheda tho being sacrificed. nani needs to know how to get rid of the ball quickly he plays with it and just gets crowded out and when he did do something his final ball let him down. i think hes trying to hard hes very talented but he needs to calm down. nice to see a decent crowd better then wastelands.
overall
we did well with 10 men and 11 changes. stoke away is guna be a hard game as we found out last year. but im sure with a weeks rest everyone will be raring to go
cmon united

rachelreddevil - I know Stoke away won't be easy but don't forget last season we played them Boxing day having only just returned from Japan. My main concern is the keeper flapping at the crosses at long throws.

@king eric.

hi mate.i too am concerned about the same thing the constant crosees being delivered in the box and the long throws.we will have to be at our defensive best and after Sunday's performance i am not too sure we can win 1-0.we will have to score more than 1 anmd given the atmosphere at the stadium it wont be an easy task.

Stephen,

Gibson could have played wide right. The ball boy could have played wide right, or even Tosic

Taking off a striker and putting on a defender was logic, I am not sure the ball boy has a squad number.

I wouldn't call it impressive as Wolves were absolutely shocking. Never got a real clear chance on goal.

But, it would have been nice to see Owen and Macheda finish the game - shame that it was Owen taken off really. King looked good, Gibson was woeful and only managed one shot on target from memory, the rest were cack but nothing as special as Da Laet! J Evans was anonymous, never saw him during the game and Neville showed his endurance - impressed with him.

Looking forward to Saturday as I was a bit bored last night.

we handled the long balls last year because vds came out for every single one. i think ben foster is better a dealing with them he showed that much against besiktas kush showed too much indecsion last nite. we also have vidic who is so good at just booting the ball out and has a strong heading ability. i heard both their strikers are out so that can only be good for us
