The FA has today confirmed that Paul Pogba will not be able to play in this weekend’s game between Manchester United and Bournemouth.

Pogba picked up two yellow cards in last season’s Coppa Italia for Juventus and that ban has been carried over to the Premier League.

It was unlikely that Pogba would feature for United this weekend anyway, given that he hasn’t had any pre-season football.

The FA’s decision brings back memories of the start of the 2006-07 season when Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes were both banned for three league games following red cards they picked up in a friendly in the summer.
