@Atin - If you mean my number 10 list I left him off on purpose because although he did wear it a few times he was more famous for wearing number 9! :)

Fabio - "Why not Tom Cleverley?" It would completely screw up his soon-to-be-launched "TC23" brand, potentially costing him millions.

Or, more likely, hundreds.

Ashley Young could be "WTC7" (falls down even when not touched.)

Off topic- anyone read about the LFC tweet asking fans who they want as new manager after kenny?. Apparently went down a storm . Classless and insensitive to the core .

Me of course. A power winger with no speed, great quikness and a powerful ass to back 3 defenders to the 6 yard box and make the right pass!

I've voted new player but they could give it Young and then give 18 back to Scholes.

Let the players fight for it, no seven for a season then see who deserves it

Don't know if Nani would want it. Think of all the Ronaldo comparisons.
Not Rooney - the number 10 holds a special place already.
Welbeck will probably inherit the number 9, but giving 7 to a born and bred United lad would be great.

Don't see anyone else worthy of the shirt right now. Hated that Young got 18. Would have rather Valencia got it after Scholesy retirement #1, but maybe they're waiting for Giggsy to go hang up the boots before giving 11 to Tony V... :)

Nani. The most talented player on the squad. Not my favorite (Vidic, Valencia, and you have to love Rooney), but he has the natural ability to be the game changer worthy of the 7. Maybe that vote of confidence from SAF would do the trick. Watching him against Barcelona on the US tour last year, I thought he had turned the corner from good to great. Not yet.

Nani is the most appropriate at the no inless Rooney feels confident enough to step up to Eric's level...

I love the idea though that there is a sorting hat at OT working who is worthy of these historic numbers ... 7,9, 10,11.

If berba leaves my #9 will be welbeck. Chicho should have #14 as it suits him.

Kagawa if joins will wear #13 ( I think park will go). Nani and young are not #7 material. But I won't be surprised if nani gets that.

My #7 will be a new signing or Nani.

Somebody suggested Rooney which made me feel sick.
Its been scandalous having Owen as #7
I cant see us signing a player that would suit #7 although we probably wont sign the players in positions we need for some reason.
The #7 should be to our mystery player and that is Nani providing he signs a new contract.

Well I feel that with Owens departure, the vacant number 7 shirt should serve to be an omen of our next superstar. I hope the manager signs some great exciting young stars and for me personally, these would include Neymar,Sanchez,Ozil or Bale.
However,we are unlikely to get any of those players so you could see a new unknown star similar to Ronaldo being brought to Old Trafford and taking over that famous number.
From the current players,I feel that Nani and Valencia could both step up and take on the number 7 and if they can both improve, they will engrave their names in the history of the club by following the likes of United greats such as Best,Cantona,Beckham and Ronaldo.

Bale for the 7. Move tony sentral and stick nani left. Best offensive midfield in epl.
