Rodrigo Possebon has elected to play for Italy who he qualifies to play for thanks to his father. It is his Italian passport which allowed him to sign for Manchester United as he was not subject to European Union legislation regarding non-Europeans working in Europe.

He has been called in to the Under-20 set up this week and is chuffed to have been asked.

“I’m very happy with the news of this selection,” he said. “From the moment I got the Italian passport I knew this was what I wanted. It is even a way of saying thanks to the country that gave me the opportunity to play in Europe and in Manchester. I will grab it with both hands and give all of me. Italy was the country that has recognized my work and I do not believe in looking back.”
