Tony Pulis has claimed that he hasn’t yet spoken to Darren Fletcher about how he feels about returning to Old Trafford for the first time since leaving Manchester United.
I’ve not spoken to him about it, I’ll mention to him because you don’t want him to get too wrapped up in the occasion you want him to concentrate on the 90 minutes. Obviously he had a great time there, a wonderful, wonderful time there as an apprentice right the way through. He’s worked through the pomp of that football club with some great players.
Pulis has sung the praises of Fletcher’s influence since joining the club and coming captain, claiming that United’s youth system has done a brilliant job.
Darren is a strong character, resilient, forthright…he’s been fantastic, not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well. At the training ground, around the dressing rooms he’s been very good. It’s great credit to the system at Manchester United, the way they brought the young players up. They’ve done it the right way. That group of players have been wonderful.
