Following Carlo Ancelotti’s comments earlier today which confirmed that Casemiro had told him he wanted to leave Real Madrid for Manchester United, their official club website has this evening revealed the transfer has been done.
Real Madrid wants to express its gratitude and affection to Casemiro, a player who is already part of the legend of this club. Casemiro has been one of the most transcendental players in one of the most important and successful stages of our history.
In addition to this brilliant track record, Casemiro will always represent for the memories of [fans] the values of our club. An exemplary player who has given everything for Real Madrid. Real Madrid is and will always be his home and we wish him and his family good luck in this new stage of his life.
United announced on the official website earlier this evening that a deal had been done, pending the agreement of personal terms, UK visa and medical.
The deal hasn’t been confirmed in time for Casemiro to get a visa to face Liverpool on Monday, but the player will have a farewell event hosted by the club next week. United will be hoping that the defensive midfielder will be able to face Southampton away next weekend.
A medical should take place this weekend after a reported fee of £50.7m was agreed, with the potential to rise to £59.2m.
