Earlier this month, following the break down of the transfer of David de Gea to Real Madrid, club president Florentino Perez claimed that Keylor Navas wanted to leave Spain to join Manchester United.
I owe no apology as if Keylor had not wanted to leave we would have not have made the agreement. We spoke about the misfortune that happened and say it is exceptional.
Navas has claimed that this isn’t true though and that he always wanted to stay at Real Madrid. But it’s not like Perez to lie.
I never thought of leaving Real Madrid. I always wanted to stay here. I am happy here and hope to stay for many years in this shape. The transfer to United was complicated, it is not a comfortable situation. But it’s now over to me and I am just trying to be focused on the present. That’s the only thing it matters. I am aware the fans always backed me in any situation.
