Sir Alex Ferguson has today revealed that Rio Ferdinand might be missing for what is left of the season.
“We may be lucky to get him back for part of this season.”
Chris Smalling has done a brilliant job in the centre of defence since Rio got injured, proving he is more than capable of doing a job against the best teams in the league as well as any other team.
2007-2008 was the last season Rio made it through without any long term injuries. Last season he played in just 13 league games and in 14 this season. He has played in just 4 games in 2011, the last of which against Aston Villa on February 1st.
Jonny Evans is also set to be fit by this weekend’s game against Bolton, whilst Nemanja Vidic won’t be available until after the International break. John O’Shea is out for 5 weeks whilst Rafael is expected to be out for 3, both with hamstring injuries.
