Jim - I'm glad he's gone too. I'm not posting article after article about him. I just came across that video and found it pretty interesting. Appears most people here did too.

Go directly to the Youtube page where that video is located and look up the profile of the guy who posted that video. There are some truly despicable people running around on this planet, that's all I can say.

Personnally, I hope he flops at Madrid, plays about 15 games over the next 2 seasons, and comes back to United in 2011/12 for around £20m

Straight red card, no question about it! Crygera catches Ronaldo just below the knee, that's way too high!

...and I must give Ronaldo credit for not being injury prone. We've watched him shrug of bad tackles time after time at United.

looks like liverpool struggling to buy anyone to, according to the rags they gonna get villa, doubt that will happen they don't seem to have cash, with alonso an masherano off a torres injury and the dippers could really struggle for a top 4 finish, espanyol aint a bad outfit mind

I know he's not a Red any more (and I really hope some brain dead Utd fans dont start saying he deserves it etc ) but a tackle like that on any player, is bang out of order. He's lucky he's not in hospital after that. That player should get a six game ban - not a meaningless yellow.. disgraceful.

One thing that amazes me is how strong Ronnie is! The guy is like a machine, he gets some terrible challenges but still manages to walk away..

Unrecognisable from the spotty kid who came off the bench against Bolton!
Whatever you say you have to give the guy credit for the way he has dedicated himself to be at the level he is..

You can have all the talent but it is really the ones who want it most who reach the very top..

.. Now back to talking about United!

I think much has been said about Ronaldo, but I thing we took for granted was his fitness. How many games did he actually missed due to injury when he was with us? He's a tough lad, and credit goes to him. For all the times we have slated him for going down too easily, he actually had a choice to not to go into that position to be challanged, so I definitely agree with Sir Alex that Ronaldo is a brave brave lad. The likes of Hargreaves can definitely learn alot from him about keeping himself injury free.
-> Back to topic, it was an awful challange, and as someone mentioned, you look at how Madrid's players reacted to it, it was a disgrace, nobody was concerned the slightest bit. Protection from referee is one thing, protection from your team mates is another

@ marq ..the injuries hargo has had you dont wish on any footballer, i think that comparison is a bit stupid to be honest

ronaldo hasn't had career ending injuries and gone through any major sugeory/rehabilitation (emphasis on major)

on topic that tackle was atrocious and id like to see him do well in spain but obviously not as well as he did with th best team in the world

on that note has he found the net with real yet?

That tackle was nasty, for any league!!! I don't agree with some of you guys that say play would've been waved on in the premiership, it's true in England they don't stop play as much as they do in Italy or Spain, but WOW! any referee in the world with a brain in his skull would stop play for a tackle like that.
As far as Ronnie is concerned, I agree that in his time at Man United he became the best player in the world and helped bring more glory and trophies to our club and, unlike Tevez, he's been gracious and classy after he left, having only good things to say about Man United and Sir Alex (specially the Oasis/City dig, love it!!!) he'll always have a special place in our club's history... but I still don't understand why there's people defending him so much, aren't we forgetting something? remember what he did last summer? he broke loads of Man United fans' hearts with his antics trying to engineer his move to Real, his attitude completely stank the whole season, from the very first game to the champions league final, it took him 'til the 5-2 comeback win against Spurs to even feel like celebrating a goal, was it really that bad to spend one more season in the club that made him what he is now? and anyone that watched that final game against Barcelona would agree that he wasn't playing for Man United to win that game, Ronaldo just wanted Ronaldo to be the headlines, he was playing for himself, for his personal accolades. Remember his reaction when substituted in 2-0 win against City? when has any player in our club EVER got away with trowing a tantrum like that and calling SAF a joke??? he never really loved the shirt, he was never a true Manchester United player, seriously guys, think about that!!!

As for you Ronnie, I've got to say you gave me a lot of fond memories and that you'll always be part of Man United's history, but I'm sorry mate, you fall well short of ever becoming a Man United legend, you never made it to our hearts like Robson, Cantona, Giggs, Becks and many others have done over the years, TRUE MANCHESTER UNITED LEGENDS.
Farewell Ronnie, I wish you do well at Real, hope you score a hat trick in every game but Real loses always 4-3... sorry, but I hate that club and the way they do things, I still want that mob to go down!!!

Disagree mate.he loved the shirt until he won everything.but i thank him for leaving only after he won everything.he wud nt have wanted real move had we lost the 2008 CL final.if that was the case he had a chance to move in 2006 and 2007 but stayed on to prove all his detractors in England wrong after the 2006 WC.he did nt leave in 2007 bcoz he wanted the Cl.

as for the city tantrum it was uncalled for but that made me happy bcoz he wanted to play every minute of our season which is a good sign fron any player

another thing,he will never play for any of our rivals unlike cuntevez

@Kevos
I didnt wish injuries on anyone, all I am saying is that Hargreaves can learnt alot about keeping himself fit. How is that stupid? The is exactly what is wrong with Hargreaves, and the same went with Saha. It was more of a mental thing rather than physical. If you start to think you have no chance to be as fit, you will never reach it. And such character and personality has no place here at United
P.S. kinda insulting to see you use the word "stupid", when i think it is a point i think is valid

OUCH!!! That's was a nice piece of tackle there.. Serve you right! That can't be a yellow, has to be a red but it's Ronaldo. He deserves it.. LOL.. That tackle could be fatal and what would Real Madrid do if Ronaldo suffer a fatal injury.. it would give Real Madrid a headache. Just like they did to Owen when he was in Madrid, after he suffered an injury he was sidelined and being left out from the first eleven squad.

i think you cant compare nw bcoz hargo has played for longer compared to ronny at the top level .if ronny can maintain himself for years we have to admit but sme like hargo are unfortunate and others like giggsy and scholesy are fortunate not to have suffered such an injury

Obviously I don't wish harm on anybody, but it WOULD have been amusing to see Ronaldo injured.

Imagine his career being ended Haaland style - he would forever be thinking 'If I never left Utd it would never have happened' and we'd be forever thinking '£80m down the shitter, niiiice!'

marq u r talking nonsense. Hargreaves has done everything he can to get fit. How much of a 'mental' problem is it having major surgery and an intensive rehabilitation period? If he was as mentally weak as you make him out to be he would've quit already. Ronaldo was lucky never to have major surgery so how can you compare the two situations?

Big target on his back now, hope the boy does well to keep out of those type of tackles but when you think about it Ronaldo's been pretty lucky staying free of major injury and for some reason i have a feeling he's due a major one at some point.

Don't want to jinx the lad because i've always liked him, but something about Madrid and their flamboyant attitude tells me he will get hacked a lot by lesser players who won't stand for his showboating.

No no, I wouldn't wish that on anybody, but the circumstances would have been bemusing if he HAD have been hurt.

I'm a big fan of Ronaldo, but it's like an ex-girlfriend - no matter how much you love them, you don't want them to do well without you.

In regards to the actual tackle, it looks to me (and obviously it's just my opinion) like the lad went to put his foot on the other side of the ball to shield it, but Ronaldo has simply to fast and happened to be there when Grygera's studs came down.

It doesn't look intentional, just unfortunate.

Not a nice challange!!

Better protected in Spain / Real Madrid?

What we have to remember is that this is pre season and tackles like this happen from time to time.

I have watched the spanish league for a number of years now and Free Kicks are given for less offences thats for sure! we sometimes suffer with this in Europe, you can see a distinctive difference in our Tackleing these games and Fergie has openly sayd In Europe you have to stay on your feet to tackle! If not its a high percentage that it will be a free kick!

So will Ronaldo be protected more in Spain?... Nope! Will he get more freekicks yes!!

Why will he not be protected? No one can protect the best player in the world! If you cant stop him teams will just kick him! He has to live with it!

WHEN SPEAKING ABOUT RONALDO I HAVE A QUESTION TO ASK - why do people still fall under his sweat words about us when knowing he's a hypocrite - you want a proof ? ok -i'll give you one- while he was here you could hear him saying "yes , my dream is to play for real ONE DAY " all the time. fair enough - but when asked where he will gonna be playing "the next season" the answer was mostly - "Man United. I'm not going, i'm staying "- . Especially this may or april ( i can't remember correctly ) when he said - "this is my home, my heart is here - i love the fans , blah blah blah..." it was as clear as a day that he made the fool of us. and look at Tevez situation just for comparision - it was as clear as a day that he was gonna leave us and not once did he say a bad word about the fans . in fact he said how he loves the fans and everything but the only problem he had here was with SAF. just like Stam, just like Ruud, just like Keane and just like Beckham. i'm not trying to slate the great man but Tevez said that SAF had lied to him when promising that berba's arrival wouldn't influence his situation. And that's it - that's the whole problem. At least he was honest unlike ronaldo who once again cheated everyone by saying how "his home and heart at Manchester" and that he "will be playing here the next season ". But then after he finally had sealed his dream move to madrid he said "I knew I was off last year " - that proves that he knew the whole time and that he lied to us - how come people fail to see that is beyond me. It is bloody obvious. who knows , maybe he actually DID sign a pre-contract with them like the former Madrid president said. as for SAF - been saying (whispering) this for a while now that i don't think the time when he losses his patience with rooney is far away. he does have a history of falling out with great players/legends with certain charisma. i hope i won't be right on this one like i was right when saying a couple of months ago "saf sold becks when he became more of a pop star than a footballer, i wonder will he do it to ronaldo any time soon" - but i have a bad feeling that rooney will be next. now don't hate me for this post i was just expressing my opinion...cheers

Hello boogeyman - A bit different than normal people though mate. If Ronnie DID get a serious injury he certainly wouldn't have to worry about supporting himself and his family as you put it. All the same I would never wish that on the lad.

Kings - Seriously? The man is a cunt and I am really starting to detest the bastard. They will find it extra difficult this season as it will be like when teams play us. They are always up for it and give 100%. Now they are "The Worlds richest club" they can expect that to happen to them. Fuck me they struggled to break Barnsley down!
