Cristiano Ronaldo left Portugal as a skinny little lad, a ‘one-trick pony’, but a few years in to his Manchester United career, he is the best player in the World.

The sought after winger has today revealed that before leaving Sporting Lisbon he was approached by Inter Milan, the team United have to beat to progress to the Champions League quarter-finals, but chose to join United when they came in with an offer for him.

“It was a long time ago and I don’t even remember it well,” said Ronaldo. “I was 17 or 18 and someone mentioned the possibility of a move to Inter. I can’t really recall what they were saying, but we did discuss it. Then Manchester United arrived and I came here.”
