Manchester United came back from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Atalanta this evening to remain top of the Champions League group. Cristiano Ronaldo scored in injury time of the first half and injury time in the second half to earn us the draw.

After the game, speaking to BT Sport, Ronaldo acknowledged he knew the game would be tough thanks to his time in Serie A with Juventus, but the squad never gave up.

It was a difficult game. I know that when we play against Atalanta away it’s always difficult, but we believed until the end. I helped my team to get one point and I’m so happy. We never give up. It’s a good result for us, I think. In the beginning it was tough, Atalanta have a fantastic coach. I knew from when I played at Juventus they are always difficult to play against. But we did our job. We were a little bit lucky in the end but this is football.

The defence were at fault again this evening but Ronaldo was kind in saying they are adjusting to a new system.

We have to improve. We have different players, a different system, we have to adapt to each other. It’ll take time. In my opinion we have time to improve and be better.
