Ahead of tonight’s game against Blackburn Rovers, Wayne Rooney has claimed that if we do manage to win the title this season, it will mean more because we’ll have pipped City to it.

The blues have lead the table for the majority of the season but despite United’s crushing injuries, have not managed to stay at the top.

If United beat Blackburn tonight they will go five points clear at the top, putting us in a great position to win our 20th title, and Rooney says getting one over on City will mean it’s one of the best wins ever.

“Would it mean something extra because City are challenging? Yes, of course,” he said. “It’s the first time since I’ve been here and the first time for many years that United and City have been going head-to-head for the title. To win it would be great for the players, the fans and the club as a whole, and it would definitely be one of the best titles we’ve ever won, if we can do it.”
