On Monday night, Wayne Rooney played his first game at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson revealed the striker had asked to leave the club.

Whilst you might have expected the fans to boo him, Rooney was on the end of a brilliant reception from the supporters, with them singing his song and repeatedly chanting his name.

On his Facebook account he posted some pictures from Monday’s game against Chelsea and said: “It was an unbelievable reaction from the fans, so thank you. I really appreciate your support. It means a lot.”
