Sir Alex Ferguson joked that he would be making a trip to the FA Cup quarter final draw, if we beat Arsenal, to make sure it wasn’t being fixed. After facing ten Premiership teams in a row in the Cup, whilst our rivals have enjoyed lower league opposition, Fergie could be forgiven for thinking something was afoot!

However, after knocking out Arsenal with ease yesterday, Wayne Rooney has claimed that he wants Chelsea in the next round. “I hope we get Chelsea,” he said. “Personally, I’d like to play them at home and try to knock them out. After that we’ll be through to the semi final and I’m sure we can take things from there.”

United have certainly shown their worth when drawn against the better teams, so it makes sense to want another tough draw. We have shown we’ve got the mental grit as well as ability to get a result against the best teams in the league. Playing Chelsea now, and winning, would lift the pressure from us for the remaining games in the Cup. On the other hand, if we’re going to lose to Chelsea, I’d much rather lose in the quarters than the final itself.

Would you rather get Chelsea out of the way now?
