Manchester United have today confirmed that Jesse Lingard will be leaving the club on a free transfer this summer, as expected.
After a very successful loan spell at West Ham in 2020-21, United opted to keep him last summer, but he’s barely played this season and the situation, whipped up by his brother and agent, has turned sour in recent months.
It’s a sad end for a player who grew up supporting United, who travelled down to Wembley to watch the FA Cup final against Newcastle in 1999 and who scored goals in two victorious cup finals.

Newcastle are reportedly keen on signing him, while David Moyes has made no secret of his desire to take Lingard back to London.
The club official website thanked him for service to the club over the past 20 years.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Jesse for all of the memories he’s helped create during his two decades here and wish him the best of luck in his future career.
