Luke Shaw has been one of the best performers at Euro 2020, assisting three goals for England and playing a key role in their attacking movement, as well as being important in their impressive defensive record too.

The left-back hadn’t been included in recent England squads until this season, when he’s proven to be the best in his position in the Premier League, but is now reaping the benefits of having a manager who offers him support.

Jose Mourinho was tough on Shaw, both publicly and privately, which saw the once most expensive teenager in world football decline on the pitch, but speaking the BT Sport the left-back has spoken about the impact Solskjaer has had on his form.

Like I’ve said many times now, Ole has been brilliant with me. He knows exactly what is needed for me. He’s never too easy on me, he’s always pushing me, which I like. I think he knows exactly what I need. We had a little conversation about it the other day, he said he’s always going to keep being on to me because he wants me to keep improving and getting better. That’s what I like, someone like Ole, who obviously believes in me and trusts in me. I didn’t have that for a while and it’s nice to have that now.
