Just last summer, David Silva signed a 7-year-contract with Valencia, as a player who came from their youth system.

Silva, who was lucky to stay on the field during Spain’s Euro 2008 semi-final versus Germany, after an exchange with Lukas Podolski, has been in talks over a new contract, which have stalled. It appears as though Silva is asking for a lot more than he is being offered.

According to reports, United have faxed overa declaration of their interest in the vesatile player, who does a good job in a variety of attacking positions.

Rumour has it that Valencia are in desperate need of dosh to pay off a sizeable instalment on their massive debts next month. Also, with David Villa seeming more likely to stay, it appears as though Silva is the player they are prepared to sell.

The fact that there are rumours linking Saha to Valencia might amount to nothing, or our Mr. Glass might be used as a bargaining tool to get Silva.

Earlier this week, the players’ agent indicated that there was a good chance of the player leaving, with talks going so poorly.

“Next week there will be a solution,” he said. “We’ve given ourselves time to think things over well. We’re not close, nor far from reaching an deal, nor somewhere in between.”

United’s biggest competition is likely to come from Barcelona, with a transfer fee of £20 million likely to be enough to prise him away from his boyhood team.

Is he a player you’d be interested in us signing?
