Danny Simpson has been loaned out to Newcastle after spending last season on loan at Blackburn and Ipswich. Whilst he’s a player we all want to do well, given that he’s a Salford lad, last season seemed to confirm his fate. He couldn’t even get in the Blackburn team so what future could he have with us? Somebody at the club must see something in him though for him not to be sold. Whilst the likes of Lee Martin and Richard Eckersley left permanently for first team football this summer, Simpson is clinging on to his United career.
Regardless, we’ve been here before with Newcastle, when loaning them Giuseppe Rossi. The young striker is worth £20-30m now following his 23 goals in 57 games in La Liga, but Newcastle wouldn’t play him. He scored a goal in his first start for the club but just couldn’t stay in the team. It was a complete waste of time.
Maybe the point of loaning out Simpson is to advertise him to the Championship so that someone will come in for him, but I really can’t imagine he has a future at United. He was a naughty boy before he was loaned out last season, the youngster getting himself in to a bit of woman (/young girl) trouble, and if that wasn’t enough to put his United career to a stop, not being good enough for Blackburn certainly should have been!
