Tottenham Hotspur drew 0-0 in their home game against Manchester United at the weekend, prompting their manager and players to claim they’re as good as us.

United are potentially 11 points better than Spurs though, with us currently having won 8 points more than them with a game in hand too.

“Even though we know we haven’t beaten them for 10 years, we showed they are not better than us,” said Modric. “We feel now we can play with them. It’s a shame we didn’t win but even a draw is a good result. We said before the game that we wanted to win to close the gap and we didn’t make it. But there’s still a lot of games between now and the end of the season and we need to try everything.”

Over the course of the game, with United going down to ten men with 20 minutes still to play, Spurs managed just two tame shots on target, both going straight in to the arms of Edwin Van der Sar. United had four shots on target and forced at least one good save from Gomes.

If you compare this to our game against them at Old Trafford, we had ten shots on target to their two.

I like Spurs. Harry Redknapp is a bit of a dick but all in all they’re an inoffensive team. Modric, Bale and Van der Vaart are all great players, and they seem to be missing a massive twat (like Gerrard, Terry, Fabregas etc.). But I can’t agree with what Modric has to say here.

United aren’t the side we were a few years ago (you know, when we were Champions of Europe) but you have to think Spurs are kidding themselves if they think they’re as good as us. They should concentrate on confirming their spot in the top 4 rather than trying to measure themselves as equals to the league leaders.
