Sunderland’s new transfer record breaking signing, Asamoah Gyan, has revealed he’s a United fan. Steve Bruce has paid £13m to Rennes to bring the striker, whose idol is Eric Cantona, to the North East.

“I am a Manchester United fan,” said Gyan. “My favourite player was Eric Cantona. Even now, I watch his clips. He scored incredible goals, unexpected goals. You have to make the impossible possible. That makes you a good striker.”
