Andrei Arshavin was talk of the town in this past year, emerging as a big player for UEFA Cup winners, Zenit St Petersburg, as well as the semi-finalist of Euro 2008, Russia.

The player was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, however the deal fell through. Maybe securing the Dimitar Berbatov transfer fee earlier than the last minute would have helped in their bid to secure Arshavin…

The Russian midfielder has today hinted that he is still looking for a move abroad, but Spurs don’t get a mention.

“I still have a desire to play abroad and I’d like to play either in Spain or England,” said Arshavin. “Barcelona are my favourite team and in England there is Manchester United and Chelsea.”

He has one thing in his favour at least, that his Spanish dream doesn’t involve Real Madrid!
