Manchester United face Barnsley away in the next round of the League Cup, which is good news for all of us who have been dragged in to the automatic cup scheme in order to apply for away tickets!

United last faced Barnsley in the 97-98 season, where we thrashed them 7-0 in the league, thanks to goals from Cole, Giggs, Scholes and Poborsky, but then were knocked out of the FA Cup by them. A 1-1 draw at Old Trafford forced a replay which we lost 3-2.

Barnsley famously knocked Chelsea and Liverpool out of the FA Cup the season before last, although were then knocked out by Cardiff in the semi-finals.

Last season, Barnsley were knocked out during the first round of the League Cup by Crewe and this season have beaten Lincoln, Reading and Burnley to reach the fourth round.
