Craig Bellamy has today hinted that he could have signed for Manchester United in the summer transfer window, after failing to make City’s 25 man squad.

After being asked about rumours linking him to Spurs, Liverpool, Fulham and Everton in the summer,

“Something else came in which would have caused a few stirs,” Bellamy said.”If I’d said I wanted to go there for one minute, my life at Man City would have been really tough.”

He was asked whether he was alluding to Manchester United.

“I’m not going to say anything,” he replied. “But it would have been a tough couple of weeks. It would have been a miracle if it had come off. I sat down with my agent and we discussed whether we held out for that, or whether I went home [to Cardiff]. I think because of the other club being interested, I think Man City panicked.”

Manchester United was mentioned to him again, to which he responded: “It could have been Arsenal as well, it could have been Chelsea.”

Word from Old Trafford is the club are humoured and bemused as to why Bellamy would hint at such a thing.
