Sunderland’s £13m striker, Asamoah Gyan, has revealed his wish to swap shirts with a Manchester United player at Old Trafford this weekend. The self-confessed United grew up worshipping Eric Cantona but insists his feelings for United won’t stop him trying to score a goal against us.

“I’ve been waiting for this for a long time,” he said. “I supported United since I was a boy. My hero was Eric Cantona. I hope I can score there because, although I’m a United fan, I’m doing my job. Maybe I’ll try and swap shirts. I liked United because they played good football. My dad was a fan for years. His favourite player was Pallister. I liked Cantona because he was a great player.”
