Tom Cleverley, Ben Amos, Tom Thorpe, Callum Evans and Ryan McConnell have all been released by Manchester United, the club has confirmed today.
Cleverley has agreed to join Everton on July 1st and will be reunited with Roberto Martinez, who was Cleverley’s manager when he was on loan at Wigan in the 2010-2011 season.
Amos made a total of seven appearances for the first team, with the four appearances in the 2011-12 season his most active year at the club. He has been loaned out to six clubs in his time at United, most recently at Bolton, until his loan deal expired at the beginning of April.
Thorpe was United’s U-21 captain but was only given a minute of first team football by Louis van Gaal this season. Fellow U-21 defenders, Callum Evans and Ryan McConnell, never played for the first team.
