Manchester United have confirmed that they have sold out all 55,000 of the available season tickets. This is the fastest sell out since the summer before the 2006-2007 season.

Price increases and the automatic cup scheme have put some fans off since then and whilst the club has claimed to have a season ticket waiting list for years, they have been desperate to sell off season tickets at the start of every season. Fans who haven’t renewed have received phone calls and adverts have been put in the paper.

Presumably the sacking of David Moyes and the excitement for a new era under Louis van Gaal, as well as the option not to buy all cup tickets, has encouraged the quick sales ahead of 2014-15.
