It was been confirmed this afternoon that Victor Valdes will be joining Standard Liege until the end of the season. The Belgian side are currently seventh in their league.
Valdes hasn’t played for Manchester United since the final day of the 2014-15 season at Hull. Over the summer, he fell out with Louis van Gaal, with the manager claiming the goalkeeper refused to play for the U-21s, a claim Valdes denied.
Even when David de Gea was out of the team at the beginning of the season, with Van Gaal unwilling to play him when it appeared as though he would be signing for Real Madrid, Valdes wasn’t use. United instead played Sergio Romero.
In a year at United, Valdes played in two games, a total of 105 minutes, and will no doubt be relieved to have finally been given a way out.
