Louis van Gaal has revealed that he will likely be meeting Sir Alex Ferguson for a drink to discuss his appointment as Manchester United manager.
“The aim is to bring them back to the No 1 position as soon as possible because that is where they were under Sir Alex Ferguson,” he said. “I’ll undoubtedly have a drink with Ferguson. We’ve done that before and we like each other.”
Van Gaal also made it clear he was aware of what the expectations are at United. However, he has claimed that United haven’t given him a budget, rather asked him about the players he is keen to sign.
“United is the biggest club in the world marketing-wise,” he continued. “But, also, if you look at their budget, they have to finish high. We don’t talk about money, we talk about the players I want. We’ll have to see if we can get them. We also talked about who can go.”
