Ruud van Nistelrooy has conceded that he will always follow Manchester United, after keeping a keen eye on the club since he left in 2006.

Of course, it’s impossible not to [watch United] for me. I’ve followed them ever since [I left] and I am interested now to see them back in the Champions League and making a good start in the Premier League. It was a good win against Liverpool. I saw that game with Martial scoring a great goal. Memphis and Daley are there, putting in their qualities, and they have had a good season so far. Hopefully, they can bring more to the team as well.

Louis van Gaal has employed several Dutch members of staff, while Daley Blind and Memphis Depay are now part of the squad too. Van Nistelrooy is pleased to see his compatriots at United.

It’s good. I’m happy to see players and coaches from the Netherlands at clubs like United. It is only good for Dutch football.
