With all things considered, I thought he did quite well. His loan shot of the match was definitely on target, and it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if it did not take a deflection.

Completely off topic, but did anyone else notice that Magnus Eikrem was named as a substitute, but he was playing for Solskjaer in the reserve match against Bury!?

not bad - he didn't look out of place, he didn't trip on his laces or throw up on his shirt. He's fast, strong and can use both feet - as advertised. So, he's not a dud - the question is going to be "is he a real player ?" Obviously, it's too soon to tell but, hey, ya never know - you know what I mean ?

I hope to see more of him and obertan now that valencia is injured, but fergie is going to play gigs and park more offoned. He is not a bad player he is fast, qiuck, strong and got some skills. But who impress me most was smalling, he is far better than evans and he is on rio toes. Ando also impress me as for me he was motm. He handle the m.filed very well. He did'tn play as a cam but as a dm due to gibson who is a cam. I will like to see him peiring with schools who love to stay behind and will allow him to go forward and roam about.

What position did Beba play in?
To be honest, if he was meant to be on the left wing, he really did a horrible job in covering that side. He drifted to the right sometimes and when I mean drifted, he was doubling up on the right and players were pointing him to go back left.

Not bad for his first time out and with such little time. You can definitely see he has some ball skills and he's confident taking on defenders and sprinting up the pitch or down the wing. With some great mentoring from Nani, Valencia and of course SAF, I think he will be just fine and develop very well.

Matt they drift centrally, at least they can recover positionally, but sometimes bebe looked friggin lost. His touch and stuff was fine but those positional errors are vastly more important for any team, any good team will exploit space like that and make a goal scoring chance.

Anyway, there's nothing wrong with speculating on his credentials as a player. As I said, it's the persecution complex some have developed on his behalf, constantly sniping at the Daily Mail. That's the problem.

It's a pathetic publication that will produces vitriolic sentiments about anybody who doesn't conform to its narrow-minded view of the world. Get over it.

rooneythenewking & willierednut - good point about the incredible scepticism in the press which preceded his 15 minutes. He was judged without trial - now, at least, there is some evidence and it suggests that the press don't know anything but negativity. But, who is surprised by that ? They write off UTD every year and then grudgingly admit that - after winning the EPL most of the time - that next year it will be different. But it won't be different - after losing out by one point (one point !) UTD are not now - nor never have been - inferior to the RentBoyz. Given the appalling refereeing that seems to characterize professional footie in England - and the World Cup - the margin of difference between UTD and CSKALondon is hardly outside the standard deviation of Mssrs Atkinson and Riley and Bennett and Webb and the rest of them.

What's so surprising about the press scepticism towards Bebe is that they clearly wanted him to fail - as if they could shout some play-ground ditty about SAF. It's really pathetic but expected and, thankfully, I only have to endure what I read on the internet and, living in Toronto, I am not subject to it on the radio and television.

Bebe himself seems to be the proverbial "deer in the headlights". And, why not ? Two months ago this guy was sleeping in an orphan's hostel, now he's bloody nearly "the king of the world". If you tried to make it up you'd be ridiculed. And, of course, that's just one more reason why I want this kid to do well - for himself and for UTD.

yes but jd, he only drifted centrally, why do you feel the need to invent him coming over to the right wing,(there was one moment when he came centrally down the penalty area and was forced right is that what you mean) he may have a lot to learn in terms of team responsibilities but to suggest he looked lost is a total untruth. I would task you to provide video evidence of this, which you won't beause it doesn't exist, so keep making up your tales if it makes you feel good.

Can you lads imagine it! What any of us would do to be in this lads shoes. In a United shirt, coming on in a senior game. Getting payed for the effort. He did just fine. Mendes just hiked up the price so the Daily Snail can rip us a new one. The Snail has to make noise because they have been selling stories all year that we are skint. Have had to shut it on those stories. Skint, yeah. Funny, no body is saying so much about that lately. Oh yeah, and van der varrt got crocked in his first 15 minutes for Totty.

It totally makes me feel good to point out a new £7.4m signing was drifting 2-3 times over a short 15 minute period, with one time being directed back into place. Totally warm and fuzzy.
I will warm to him, give him time. Just isn't anywhere ready for first team yet.

Off topic, but people always say we lack a young creative central midfield players at united, but what do people think of magnus eikrem? Superb passer of the ball, vision, good free kick taker, anyone watched him and see magnus as a potential solution to our supposed problem?

Nicky ajose, what do people think of him? Not watched him regularly to post a judgement but the boy seems to bang in the goals regularly for the reserves, does he have potential to make it or just another chris eagles?

On Bebe looking lost, he was just on for 15 mins. So its very unfair to make such statements based on that evidence. In my opinion he looks a talent. He has good pace which can't be coached unlike positional play. Give him some time. The likes of Daily Mail will be on the lookout to proclaim him a failure at the slightest opportunity. The least we can do is support him and give him time to settle.

at leas thats slightly more measured but you must know when you watch any game of football you will see players pointing out to team mates where their position should be. Bebe made an unspectacluar debut but neither was it bad, did he make positional errors, not really and he went back in defence when needed. There is a lot he needs to learn and learn he will but the 7.4 m is not his fault just as the 30 m for berbatov was nothing to do with him, all he can do is continue to progress regardless of a fee not set by him and not paid by him.

You haven't once made reference to the premise of my original point, instead taking it upon yourself to become the voice of RoM ("we"), conjuring up an argument to counter one you appear not to have grasped.

As much as i'd back bebe, we can't fully judge him on a few mins of action at scunthorpe, needs to at least start next carling cup game, the talent is there just needs refining, now is the time to give him support, he has had enough unfair criticism from the media.
