Is the commentator bulgarian? Because if he is i would assume that would be the correct pronounciation of berbatovs name. And if it is, ive been pronouncing it wrong for a good number of years now (not very wrong mind)...=/

Jish Inc - I think we will start seeing the real Berbatov soon. Against Wolfsburg he was superb and was the best of a bad bunch against Sunderland. Will play a huge part in United's season in my opinion.

I think Berbatov's issue for United, at least with scoring, has been a problem of intimidation. Not from other teams or defenders, but from the quality and mentality of the attackers he's been paired with (CR7, Wazza, and Judas). So rather than make the moves to try and create space and then rip a shot (which, given his ball control, he should be more than capable of), he's seemed to settle for the supporting role and tries to create shots for others rather than take the risk himself. Like in the second goal today, I can't help think that if that were United, you'd have seen him pass inside to Rooney rather than shoot himself. The man can score, but it would help if he was a little bit more selfish. He's got the opportunity now and I do believe we'll see him taking more chances at goal. It's fantastic that the goals he does bag are generally things of beauty, but the everyday, boring goals count just as much!

Jish, That is exactly how i feel everytime i watch Berba at united. I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that at United, defenders are keeping an extra eye on him. But being the genius that Fergie is, he should be able to find a way to reveal the true Berba.

WARNING!!!!!!, in about 3.8 seconds realmadrid2009 would be on this post lecturing to us that united is a crap team that can not feed the goals to berba like his international team mates can and that we are doomed for eternity unless Ronaldo returns and Fergie lives to be 200 and giggs, scholes, and neville are hung, and carrick, nani, valencia, park, and brown are shipped of to milwall.......

Thats a good point. To me Berba makes football looks simple, even too simple for my liking. He is great at holding up the ball when they are 2 or 3 defenders on him, but after that he just back passes to the midfielders and we have to restart our attack. Wazza though seems to always look for the magical Cantonaresq passes and shots which he doesnt always pull off.

So what he scored a hatrick against a nothing side that’s his job score goals what you surprised oh yea and stadium was empty does not seem like a massive game does it. Still I am not convinced with berbatov who is to moody for this team and I am a united fan I am just not convinced with this team and berbatov in particular who just is too inconsistent and underwhelming

How in God's name is Berbatov moody? The only mood he ever shows is absolute gratification for being able to play for United. If he puts a few more goals in the net, I have a feeling all the mongs who were praising Tevez will have a new savior.

All he does everytime he gets interviewed is mention that he's absolutely honored to being playing for United and how the likes of Giggs deserve statues in front of Old Trafford.

Sure sounds like a moody selfish cunt!

There's just no winning some people over...they make up their minds because he's a different(Read: BETTER)player then Tevez.

He's also been better then Rooney for the last two-three matches and seems to be on goalscoring form so yeah as said above watch out Bolton the Berba Train is comin!

Moody would almost be a step up, can you imagine Berbatov with the Cantona swagger and arrogance to back up his incredible skill? He'd be absolutely deadly. If anything he's too humble, too starstruck. It's almost as if he's an ordinary guy thrust into this club of legends and it hasn't quite clicked yet that he is good enough to be one of them. I think when he finds his mojo, and it will be a when not an if because he's getting better all the time, he'll be a United legend.

I'm also comforted that he's scoring goals against crap teams for his mediocre national team. United will create chances, lots of chances, but even against dodgy teams there have been problems sticking the ball in the goal. If Berba gets his eye in, starts hitting the mark more then United can start really hammering the weaker teams. That makes us less vulnerable to moments of madness or bad luck, plus who doesn't like thrashing nasty little scrunter clubs within an inch of their lives? I still remember, faintly, United sticking nine past Ipswich, then the eight past Forest (four of which in the time it took my Forest fan housemate at the time to stomp off in disgust to make a sarnie thinking the match was over, he came back in time for the eighth. Laughed? We nearly shat). Been a while since United really threw a little club down the stairs like that (I don't count the Roma beating in the same category, being as they ain't little).

Why is everyone getting carried away? the georgia's defending was no better than league 2 here, he was given way too much space and the defenders consistantly slow to react, he took his goals well but against better opposition there would be no hattrick, so lets keep this in perspective.

Berbatov has been one of our best performers this year. I'm fed up with writing this, I back Scott on this issue. He came 4th in the opta stats on work rate for us eventually last year, he is not lazy! Some of you sound like the idiots arguing with fergie about that argie twat who 'worked his socks off'. What's the point if you then lose it again or give away a free kick, technically Berba is much greater than a lot of our previous forwards. He is playing well at the moment, Fergie has said he now knows how and where to play him, and those slating the defending, he can only play against what is in front of him!!! Keep it up Berba, we'll shut these idiots up eventually!

Agreed some will never take to him. Also agree that for United he doesn't take that many shots, he is usually is looking to create for others. This season though he is getting inside the box more. I keep harping about it - if the rest of the team can get him the ball to where he has the opportunity to get a shot off, he can put them away. May his goal scoring form continue on Saturday !!!

It's Di-MI- tar Ber- BA- tov, the stress falling on the syllables in capital letters.

Btw, the pet name for Dimitar in Bulgaria is Mitko.

to play in this team and be a huge success sometimes you have to be arrogant cocky and be selfish be hated and a personality that sets the tone for the team. best had it rooney has it sharpe had it and ronaldo had it when he was here. berbatov does not, and go look at berbatovs career overall it does not seem like someone who has set the world on fire through out his career does it. some got it right and thats why he will never make it, also he is very easy to mark out of the game, and tell me people has there been 1 game after another where he has been outstanding, I will say it again he is to inconsistant he has 2 very good games every 8 or 9, united are a far better side when the attack has dynamic players not 1 touch players like berbatov.

hello.while most of us will admit that berbatov hasnt been anywhere as good as 30million,the thing is that we cant blame him for it.we signed him the wrong way and it was the clubs fault that we had to pay 30mn for him.am sure you will agree that he is a class act and is doing pretty well so far this season although it remains to be seen whether he can build on it and have a season to remember.while many people are saying that you are not a United fan,i think you are but sometimes your statements really are a bit wide of the mark.atleast sometimes please show some faith in the team.We have comeback from situations like now(ronny's loss) before and we can definitely do it again.

Like I said to him the other week. If he is that bad how come his International record is outstanding? Really hope though when Berba helps us to number 19 he doesn't come on here praising him and United a la the Spurs game. He doesn't seem to grasp the balance of a team, he wants United full of "big names" regardless wether they blend in.

You are missing the point here, this team is a developing team with youth and new players with talent finding their place - look at Becks & co when they were starting out. We all know that no one on the current team besides Evra, Vidic, Van der Sar, Giggs and Rio is world class. We all know Ronnie was a great player. We all know others are not performing but that they do have talent.

The difference is most of us see potential, loyalty, commitment and hard work as important and we realise the team needs time - that is what makes it exciting, we are watching all the talent united has and we are looking at how this can all work and bring us to victory.

RE real, they sucked and lost without Ronnie against Seville so lets keep it in perspective. Some of the guys in the United team and some of the reserve players will be the best in the world in their position, how many clubs can boast that - it always happens at united, it will happen again. BELIEVE. On their day, even the so called "losers" you name can produce majic, just watch.

Instead of saying "Nani is shit" and "Anderson is a flop" give some fucking reasons as to why you think they are. You sound like a dipper pal. As good as Sharpe was his head got turned by the bright lights of the Hacienda etc. If you cannot see that Anderson will become one of the best midfielders around then you know fuck all. Lads, it's very difficult for English speaking people to pronounce Berbatov' name correct - it's Berb..A..tov, not B..E..rbatov... But, that's normal. the language differences would always cause confusion
