After goals from Efrain Juarez and Aldo de Nigris gave Mexico a 2-0 lead over El Salvador in the Gold Cup, Chicharito headed the third from a deep cross on 60 and seven minutes later the Manchester United striker made it 4-0 with a shot across the keeper. Yet another impressive showing from Javier Hernandez was capped off in injury time when he chipped home a “Panenka” style penalty.

Chicharito boasts a brilliant goal scoring record for his country, as well as club, with 17 goals in 24 appearances for Mexico.

The Gold Cup is a competition for countries in North and Middle America, as well as the Caribbean. Mexico are the current holders and are the most successful team in the competition’s history, with five titles.

The all time top scorer is retired Mexican striker Zaguinho with 13 goals, narrowly ahead of USA’s Landon Donovan on 12.
