Morning all true REDS

What a terrific video, great couple of lads that also seem really up for a laugh. Tried very hard to remain composed and act all mature for the interview but you could tell they just wanted to mess around... I mean at 22 and 19 what would we expect? lol But I do seriously believe that this is how things are in general in our squad, a bunch of lads that are enjoying themselves, working hard and putting in performances to make us fans proud...... Of course I am biased but I cannot see such a spirit among players at any of the other so called top clubs.

So Sep 1st is finally here, no more speculation and no more crap.. (Until Jan of course!) I did promise a few weeks ago that I will not gloat if we did not sign the money whore but after all our efforts I do owe it to Costas and myself with at least a Muhahahahahahaha

Thanks for that link, makes going through all the transfers simple. No wonder Chelsea loaned out Kakuta to Bolton, I mean it must have been confusing for the coaching staff having him and Lukaku in the same squad!

Looks like the wee anti Wes clique won in the end.. Congratulations to Cedars and co.. Honestly, I thought we needed a player of his calibre after the defeat to Barcelona but the performances of Cleverley and Anderson show that the current MF has the ability to absolutely annihilate teams.. Finally, I would much rather see SAF bringing in Pogba, Tunni and Morrison than the likes of wee Wes.. Bringing in youth is the way forward and I'm glad that I am about to witness the emergence of a new United built firmly on youth.. A new, rampant United packed with power, pace, vibrancy, commitment and never say die attitude.. GGMU!!!

Hi Utd4life, how are you good friend?

Thanks for the congratulations but I think they should actually go to the club and especially the young players that will now certainly have their chance to come through and shine as described by you in your post....

Good Morning Lads!

Feels great to be waking up in the knowledge that we've finally signed Sneijder. He's going to be a very important player for us this season and he can only help Cleverley in the long run.

I knew all along that Sneijder would join. :D Cedars, gloat away mate, lol. I don't remember how many times I heard that it was a done deal...

@Mrad_leb

He really does.

@Cedars.. I'm doing fine buddy.. How are you? I'm sure the youngsters will take whatever opportunity comes their way.. Looking forward to seeing some of the members of the FA youth cup given a chance in the carling cup and FA cup matches..
@Balaji.. We don't have to look beyond a certain Ginger Prince to mentor our Cleverley.. God, I miss Scholesy..

Also, will Cedars and Costas reveal where they were holding Sneijder captive until the window shut. And whether Yolanthe was with him at the time?

On a more serious note, it feels fucking great to be waking up in the knowledge that we can finally start discussing only football from now onwards. At least, after these idiotic, good-for-nothing internationals are over.

I am loving these lads. They are both so down-to-Earth and appreciation of the fact that they are getting their chances to prove themselves at the highest level for United. Tom reminds me of Scholes in so many ways - both from a footballing perspective and off-the-field as well. He is going to be a legend for us, no doubt. Also, note to self, do not watch Phil Jones interviews in HD. ( )

BTW, for people worrying about our mid-field ( Sigh! ), which other team do you see that can really trouble us with the strength and depth in their squad. Going through Rohan's link (Thanks!), none of the transfers really worry me to any great extent.

I am with Jeet that it seems the 8-2 has finally woken up Wenger. More likely, he would've realized that no new signings would mean the fans would arrive at his doorstep demanding his head on a platter. His hand was forced by that thrashing, and he has bought more wisely than I would've expected him to be capable of. Looks like those 20 people he has working on transfers really proved useful. I don't think they are anywhere near capable of closing in on the top, but should be challenging for 4th which seemed unlikely on Sunday.

As for Chelsea, I expected them to finish second and still do. City have the better squad, but the rent boys have the know-how to grind out results in the months following December. But, both City and Chelsea, still don't have the strength in depth that we have. Their first-teams are really good and can probably go toe-to-toe with us, but this is a squad game over a 38-match season. I think a few injuries here and there could leave them scraping for leftovers within their squads.

As for Liverpool, I fucking hate them. Apart from City, they are the ones ruining English football with the money they shell out on transfers. Always paying over-the-odds for over-rated, underperforming British footballers. In fact, I would go as far as to say that they are the main reason we had to pay a bit more for Young and Jones. Of course, in our case, it is proving to be worth it. In Dalglish's case, I think a large percentage of his transfers are going to turn out to be duds. It will be interesting to see what happens when Liverpool start having a rough patch and the new signings don't prove as useful. How will the owners feel about money thrown down the drain?

So, yeah, there you have it. Personally, I am not worried about our mid-field, maybe our fullback slots, but definitely not MF especially if Fletcher can get himself fit and back on form. Even if I were, I am not worried about the threat from the other teams enough for it to be a cause for concern.

Hi there, I knew you were 17, but that seems like 2 years ago now! lol Anyway not too late for you to consider a change in what you're doing and go for football!

Balaji - Well said my friend, you only have to look at Andy Carroll..... 35 million and can only make the bench, the dippers really got conned with that piece of trash

35 mil for Caroll.. What the hell were Liverpool thinking?? But nothing can be compared to the 50 mil purchase of Torres.. A good player but he has regressed rapidly ever since he joined Chelsea.. I expect Chelsea to give us a tough fight for the title since they know how to grind out victories.. Ultimately, as Balaji said, it's the squad depth which separates us from the rest..

I agree on Chelsea, I have said that they will be our main challengers again, the bitters will face problems mainly of their own making but I fully expect them to finish 3rd......... As for your question, what were Liverpool thinking.... Well, that's it you see, they don't!

The funniest transfer has to be Mereiles to Chelsea. Just how pissed off must Dagleish be feeling now? Anyways, with Bellamy back, they must be getting that feeling that this could well be their year.

1. We didn't need Sneijder. We already have a player who plays in Sneijders favourite position, and that is Rooney. Rooney gets injured, then Berb's or Giggs can step up.

2. Suprised we didn't get back up for Fletcher. Going into a season with only one enforcer, and one whose recent fitness hasn't been the best, is a huge gamble in my opinion. Ando' and Clever' are doing well together, but there WILL be games when more 'steel' is required. PAST EXAMPLE: those finals against Barca, both of them, we were without Fletcher. Ball winners, can't do without them.

3. Arsenal buying Arteta ... damn, that is a quality player, even if he is 29years old.

4. Scott Parker to 'Spurs ... if he plays, he will be holding Sandro back.

5. Meireles to Chelsea ... big loss for Liverpool. I'll take him over Adams and Henderson any time.

6. Hargreaves? ... GOD 4gives, I DON'T

@Cedars.. LOL mate. They really do not think when they buy players. Of all the transfers they have done do far, only Suarez looks good for the money they shelled out. As for City, they have started out well but I remember Goat making an excellent point about how they will struggle during the winter period due to the weather and their ability to maintain their form in both CL and PL will be severely tested.

I have to admit that I was surprised that Berba (along with Diouf, PIG and Kiko) stayed. Nonetheless, imo we have to make a decision by January. Either extend Berba's contract or sell him then. He can agree with any club after January 1st and leave for nothing in the summer.

Gibson staying gives us one more option in midfield and I like that. Who knows? Maybe Tom's success will spur him on.

Costas - gibbo aint good enough simple as, he is slow and cumbersome and i doubt he would slot into this high tempo energetic game we're playing, his all round game is lacking too and at nearly 24, and not having already broken through into the first team as a starter, i doubt he ever will.

I think its good we have abundance in strikers, injuries may occur, we play in cup games e.t.c, you can't ever have enough quality.

CedarsDevil September 1, 2011
The club wanted to sell Gibbo, the manager said so himself, its obvious that his injury put any sort of move off... Might see him leave in January. As for PIG I am surprised we heard nothing all summer about him, I mean surely he is 4th now in the pecking order

Fuck me, the Arsenal fans are gloating about Arteta like he is the second coming of Zidane. All talking about how they will get their revenge at Emirates, completely missing the point that a 8-2 scoreline is incredible amongst other reasons, for the fact that it cannot be avenged! I shut them up though when I reminded them that they still had Bendner...that got them seriously worried! :)

@ EDCUNITED1878 - agree mate, Phil Jones is the new Brucey. He is great, future captain of club and country maybe. Its not very often signings can walk into the team and play as outstanding as he has.

He makes me wanna get naked and smother body in camo paint.

Anderson
Cleverly
Carrick
Fletcher
Gibson
Giggs
Sometimes Park
Sometimes even Valencia

We've no shortage of players who can play CM. It's just the stellar quality that isn't really there... yet.

I say 'yet' cos I have a good feeling about the Clever-son partnership!

The midfielder that WE needed couldn't be asked to make the transfer happen

Breaking News

As Jack Bauer finally found Sneijder locked up half way between a Lebanese restaurant and a Greek take away  time finally ran out for our hero - in not finding Sneijder in time United were left without a midfielder however the outbreak of WW3 was duly stopped in it's tracks and therefore world order was once again restored.

Well done Bauer you saved the day

So, wee Wes says he felt good at Inter and that's why he didn't leave? Nothing to do with his excessive wage demands, eh? The reality is Wesley, United didn't want you and that's why your dream move collapsed. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at City next summer.

Speaking to Holland's NU Sport, the Dutchman apparently said: "We have had several talks [with United]. I just felt it came near, it was not by coincidence. Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, so it does not seem so bad. But Italy is great for me. For me it was not a financial issue."

not financial....
