Hopefully LVG will be ok after the first training session this evening! Especially the deadwoods can depress "The Father of modern football" himself. :)

Khedira agent denied links with Chelsea and Arsenal. So it is all probably done for contract extension with Madrid.

I have to say Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are silently doing their business (esp Chelsea) when all the media attention is towards us having a lots of money to spend.

Herrera and Shaw are both good signings but I don't think they are "marquee" signings by any means.

I think most of us are praising Woodward too early re his swift dealing this summer. The reason is Ander Herrera contract ins and outs were all known to him last summer itself and there weren't any bidding war even this summer. Luke Shaw as any English player if contract are offered by United as much as highest rival club bidding then majority will choose United like Madrid is preferred by players outside UK.

So real test of Woodward negotiation skills and how serious we are investing much hyped £200M should be judged on how we will manoeuvre in dealing with worldclass players like Reus, Di Maria, Hummels and Vidal. The real test of Woodward is how he handles negotiation when big clubs of Europe are in for bidding war. This summer is crucial imo esp if we consider the fact that PSG and City are paralyzed by FFP. I hope our board directors and Woodward are conscious about it.

Hopefully we still have atleast 3 world class players to join.

I have read that Andy Mitten is more reliable than those two when it comes to United. And the video he posted about Vidal was optimistic tbh. There is no smoke without fire.

I think this summer there is no leaks from club unlike last summer as we have seen from Herrera transfer like a bolt out of blue. So may be it is better to rely on sources outside UK esp for foreign players to United.

That Jamie Jackson and the other guy of mirror you mentioned were reliable in Moyes time, not so much this summer.

That mirror guy used to boldly claim starting 11 before the lineup was announced and he used to be right when moyes was our manager. I think he got banned as well. May be his mole has vanished this time :)

The thing with those 2 I mentioned, is they follow the club, everywear, theyll be on the tour to the US, so its not youre run of the mill reporters, but who knows, Mitton is reliable as well, just got a feeling we wont sign Vidal for some reason

I know they cover United related stuffs for Guardian and Mirror but those tweets of them aren't after Conte resigned. It was of yesterday or day before yesterday. Anyway it still might be irrelevant but Nidel De Jong is one of those cheap alternatives as a defensive midfielder. Meaning there is nothing to panic.

Vidal is, of course, every United fan dream signing but for me our dream signing already landed on private jet today morning BST. I have faith on LVG.

Vidal or not, we will achieve top 4 next season and we should not expect much than that after moyes disaster.

An entertaining attacking football mixed at times with logical defensive settings plus visible build up to challenge on all fronts in LVG second season will do for me personally.

You know me mate, I will give LVG the same support I give Moyes, he will have my support until hes no longer here, Top 4 is a minimum requirement as it was for Moyes and I think we will get it, I always expect the title though lol, even though chelsea should start as favourites

I doubt Vidal will come. If he does i'd be surprised. Depends what he thinks of the new coach and the future maybe. This transfer just smells Fabregas saga all over again. Fucking disappointment once again.

unless we buy a few world class players, then there is no chance for a sustained title challenge. city and chelsea and even arsenals squad are lightyears ahead of us atm...we are seriously lacking both in midfield and in defence.

top 4 will be a possibility but in no means a given...liverpool will be strong again this year and have a good foundation to build upon from last season, and i expect spurs with pochettino to be a force

We have got a better squad than Arsenal, their squad is wafer thin, especially in central midfield, defence and up top, they are all attacking mids they have, ozil, ramsey, carzola, walcott, sanchez (Although I suspect they might play him upfront). Only Chelsea and city have a better squad than us

id certainly take koscielny ,mertesacker and vermaelen over jones smalling and evans tbh...i do think we have better full backs then them and a better gk...better attack too...as for midfield with wilshere,flamini ,arteta and ramsey as the box to box one, its much better than clev,carrick and fellaini and ando...i wont put herrera in as hes new and not seen much of him yet.

i would take mata,kagawa and januzaj over ozil santi and any other CAMs they have. although i do think ozil and santi are better than kagawa. havent been impressed much with kags...even at the wc, he was piss poor and then dropped

Mertersackers the wrong side of 30, Vermalens injurey prone and Koscielny is pretty good but in his prime, what you see is what you get with those 3. Artetas past it, wilsure is made of glass, and Flamini is just crap, hence why Wenger brought in a past it injury prone Kallstrom in january. Up front their awful, im better than Girund

what am saying is that we need reinforcements at the back and in midfield...we are pretty light there. seriously light. im not sure de jong would be a good solution...could work in the short term but im not sure if its the marquee player that man utd desperately need. i do think schweini would be great and i do think bayern would be up for selling him however,after his world cup final performance,itll be tough.

khedira would also be really good.i also really hope ando bebe nani young and cleverly are shown the door so that younger players can step up like lingard,powell and wilson. esp ando bebe and nani...they are expired...i believe they litterally have nothing to offer united.

What do you mean doubts over Ashley Young lol, Tom Cleverley is out of contract next year, cant see him being offered a new deal which will delight a few on here lol

Ok don't want to sound arrogant or cocky but I don't see the fuss about our rivals signings.

Let's start with arsenal, yes they have signed Sanchez and yes they may sign khedira but I think neither of them solves the real issue of arsenal. What arsenal need is a striker , an out and out striker. Also there defense is shit. They were lucky that last season both their central defender were not injured. They have already lost experienced Sagna so even with signing Sanchez I can't see them winning the league, yes they will improve but not to an extent of winning the league.

Liverpool, well they have lost their biggest player in Suarez. The man singlehandedly carried them. We can all say Sturridge is good , sterling is stood but the truth is Suarez was the key. And also not at all impressed by their signings so far. Lallana another overhyped mid 20s player, who may perform decent for first season but then will get lost in the shuffle. Lambart please. And two youngsters could become good but at present they won't help them in winning the league . I won't be surprised if they miss out on top 4. Also they have already spent 60 millions on these 4 players and none of them are marquee.

City won't win the league. Not overconfident but they are going to struggle. Yaya toure won't give his 100% and Aguero is not able to repeat his first season performance and his injuries are a growing concern, silvas effieceincy is going down as each season is passing by , kompany remains Their key player but he can't alone take this team to great heights again. They are going to struggle.

Now coming to Chelsea. I do think they have signed some real good players and I do think they are favs for winning the league but why buy fabregas when you already have oscar and willian. Also what if Costa becomes a flop like their previous strikers. Also I am not a fan of Costa. He doesn't show any great deal of skills. The World Cup showed that he fails when the game is fast. La liga offered him enough space and time so he managed to score 25+ goals. Only time will tell whether he will shine. But for 32 millions he could be a risk. And as far as their lb goals Filipe Luis . Again is he any better than Ashley cole. I thought Ashley cole in his peak was a tough nut , I am not sure about Luis.

Now coming to United. I think we seriously need a defender. I am excited about Vidal but. My main concern is defense. We need a central defender. Hummels would be adream. I would be concerned if we just signed vermaleen as the only central defender. So far good , I am glad we signed a midfielder. I think people are underestimating Herrera. Even I did but watching him play against barca last season and also reading about him I think he will do a fine job..

So like I said not so worried about our rivals signing so far and I don't think our transfer activity is finished. If at the moment I had to predict I will go with Chelsea as my favourites. But they could easily implode. Don't forget LVG will be motivated , he would want tot are us to the top. Just give him some time. Let him implement his ideas. I know it will work out then.when our match going fans can support moyes till the end then I. Sure LVG will feel at home every time he steps foot in a stadium

Agree with ash that every team have their own issues at the moment.

Arsenal lacking a finisher
Chelsea gambling on Costa
City with question marks about Yaya and the injuries Aguero is constantly getting
Don't get me started on Liverpool. Suarez gone, Sturridge being just Defoe mark II, Lallana could turn out to be their second Downing, Gerrard lost his legs and Lambert possibly a poor man's Carroll...

As for ourselves, we are looking top heavy, the personel we have at the back from Carrick onwards are all in question. We have by far the best frontline of them all, on paper that is. Hernandez who can't get a game for us can probably walk into their starting eleven and not look out of place. Lets see how LVG get the best out of them

I believe that Anderson and Young or Nani will leave the club. I 'm not sure about Hernandez though.
We may have to wait till January to see if LvG makes any bigger decisions (Rooney, RvP, big money big huy big heaf Fellaini).

He is well known for challenging players. For example he wanted Barca's Giovanni, a gifted flairy player, to play as a central midfielder.

For some reason I can see Kagawa and Cleverley reviving their carreer.
