Gazetta dello Sport cited the news from English media. But with the things that happening with Juventus at the moment, these Vidal rumor becoming more and more realistic. I still think it will be hard to entice him from Juve. Vidal has a tattoo representing Scudetto tittles won by Juventus. But if this rumors materialized I will personally kiss Ed Woodward bald head. That is the real Marquee signing. Imagine Van Gaal arriving with Vidal. Damn! Please be true.

Juventus will recover from the loss of coach Antonio Conte and keep challenging for titles,
former director Luciano Moggi believes. Conte resigned from his post as Juve boss on
Tuesday just months after winning a third
consecutive league title with the club. And Moggi said he was surprised by the 44-year-
old's departure, adding he has no idea why he left
the club. "The news surprised me. I tried phoning him, but he didn’t answer," Moggi told Tuttomercatoweb. "I don’t know what happened. I'm sure he didn’t do it because of an offer from another club. I think he’d always choose Juve first, so it must be painful for him to take this step."

When asked if he felt Conte resigned over the
possibility that Arturo Vidal might depart to join
Manchester United, the 77-year-old replied: "It
could be, but with an offer worth €50 million you
need to take it and find replacements. "Clubs must look at the balance sheet, as nowadays we see bankrupt clubs all the time and budgets must go hand in hand with sporting requirements. "

"How will Juve do without Conte? The King is dead, long live the King. Coaches come and go." Moggi was then asked if he thinks Conte could take over the Italy national team, but he said he would "rule that out".

LVG starts work in the morning, press conference Thursday then flight to LA on Friday, It will be interesting who goes on the tour and who doesnt, the reserves have some games coming up while the seniors are in America, not going on the tour this year unfortunatly but might get myself to one or 2 of the reserve games, the games are against.

Antonio Conte's shock resignation as Juventus coach last night has raised questions about the club's transfer activity. Most of us are excited over the prospect of signing Vidal, but some have expressed their doubts. Let me remind you just how bad last season was. I don't like to use the word disaster to describe a bad run of football results, but that was exactly what it was for a club of United's stature, ambitions and investments. We simply can't afford to miss out on CL football. It means the club lose global appeal and hurts the money-making machine really bad. It's all about branding and perceptions. So after stuffing their own pockets full with the club's money, now the Glazers pretty much has no choice but to shell out the money this summer. Even if Vidal turns out to be less than a successful signing (which I doubt because I rate him very highly) they will still have to continue to sign new payers until we are successful again. Gone are the days when they could rely on SAF to get them results on the cheap. Now they have to compete in the real market like everyone else. I think this realization will slowly make them sell the club eventually.

I doubt the Glazers will sell anytime soon, nor do we want it until there are regulations in place to stop this kind of takeover. As it is now, the debt is highly managable and the big money is just starting to come in. No reason for Glazer to sell, just yet. They would probably sell if results don't improve over an extended period and the valuation of the club goes down. You can say they already won the gamble, just a matter of how much they want to cash it out at.

But like I said, whoever is gonna take over, unless is some oil king using his own money, else we will be back to square one to repay the debt all over again

I am not bothered how much money other clubs spend. I wouldnt be for us spending 75m or 50m on a player, I want us to be different and not not attract players who are after the money as their motivation, they will disrupt the dressing room eg Yaya and Suarez, you arent sure of such kind of players remaining at the club. We earn our own money and no sugar daddies

I don't think that is the way to see it. The player has nothing to do with the transfer fee, its the selling club's call. Can see where you are coming from though, that is why bringing through young players must always be one of the priorities, because you will already know their personalities to a certain extend

@Tommy 'greedy nani priced himself out' d hatred u have for nani is not acceptable that sometimes wonder if he did a JT to u. U have never said anything good about d lad and am sure u instigated that he should b booed.
A player priced himself out of a move just to remain in d club despite turning down a better offer from zenith, instead of seeing it as loyalty u see it as greed. He remained and from reports his new contract was less than what zenith st.petersburg offered him.

Van Gaal has arrived in Manchester apparently, will be heading to Carrington to meet the squad and hold his first training session with them.

Also being reported that all players are expected to eat together after training sessions. Can't hurt I guess :-)

Reading between the lines, for me, it is equivalent to saying "If Vidal is happy to go to United OR We don't want to look like we are selling him but it is because Vidal is ready to go and we have got right amount from his sale."

Mate, don't know what's going on but above is the only paraphrase I can squeeze out from his quotes. Conte resigned so while unveiling next clueless manager what you expect him to say: " Yes Vidal is for sale because we need cash and that's one of the reasons conte resigned!!!!." :)

I think we will know more from LVG's press conference.

To some point Vidal case reminds me of Fabergas case from last year.

Till some point Fabergas was option that seemd it is possible to pull of that transfer, but with change of manager the transfer was big no, no.

Similar thing is with Vidal. Comes new manager and say's "no transfers".

Still it can be game to make potential buyers throw more money "to persuade Juventus to sell".

I read yesterday that Vidal questions are banned from tomorrows press conference, dont know if its true or not. I think Juventus want to sell but are trying to get as much money as they can, or they are trying to get Vidal (Which he wont) to hand in transfer request. You see when players move but havnt handed in written transfer request, the club has to pay up the rest of their contract but if they hand tansfer request in, they get nothing. Its why Rooney never handed in writen request when it was obvious he had asked to leave

I hope Vidal's injury issues are a temporary thing. I'd love to see him at United, though I'm really trying to figure out how we would use him. He is a goal scoring central midfielder and while that is exciting at first glance, it is also tricky in practicality. We have bought Herrera, who scores here and there but is more into passing and movement. I'll be honest here. I've not seen Vidal in the Bundesliga. In fact I first noticed him at South Africa 2010 alongside then Udinese based Sanchez so I don't know his pre Juventus career. But I do watch a lot of Serie A and Juventus and the roles he played there were DM and box to box. But his best role was the box to box variety as the English say on the right quadrant of midfield with Pogba on the opposite side with Pirlo the regista through the middle. Effectively they did not play with attacking midfielders. We have at present Carrick,Herrera and hypothetically Vidal. But we have plenty of attacking midfielders and wingers. I'm just wondering how LvG plans to use Vidal. Does this mean we have to radically alter our tactics? Or will he revert to DM? That's what I'm just wondering given the combination of players we have. Then again Vidal is a very versatile player with enough energy, athleticism and guile to play many roles across midfield. I'm really fascinated by the idea of how to get the best out of Vidal whilst utilizing players like Mata,Kagawa,Januzaj in attack without compromising team balance. Because of you have Vidal attacking, with two other attacking midfielders and you don't have a De Jong type sitting back, the defence is exposed. Interesting times ahead for United

Marotta is a shrewd businessman. Juventus are a club that believe in business first. If offers come they take as long as they bring financial health. They will take the money and don't really care about sentimentality. They also don't play hardball because Italian football is broke. It's like trying to buy from Valencia. They NEED the money. €50m is too much money to pay Juventus. Offer €44m and say "that's our last offer". I bet they'll take it. However, if Pogba leaves before we finalize the Vidal thing then we can forget it. They won't let him go. Pogba is currently valued at around €40m and that should be sufficient cash for them to hold off the sale of Vidal. We'll see.

In an ideal world, I would see Vidal being 1 part of a midfield 3, beside Herrera and Carrick. It probably wouldn't work with just a middle 2. That is for this season. By next season, we should be looking at replacing Carrick with a defensive midfielder, so that the balance is achieved. What Vidal can provide is that run into the box that we have missed since Scholes was at his peak, that additional threat from central midfield that has been non existent for a long time now

well thats just great...vidal doesnt seem to be coming and our realistic alternative has headed to arsenal..Kherdira.

so that makes arsenal = sanchez and khedira
chelsea- filipe, costa, fabregas, and 2 others as well as courtois and lukaku
city - fernando, sagna, managala and some other
liverpool- a few decent players

and us with herrera and shaw and with little players out there left with quality who will improve us.

i fear even with LVG this year that its going to be another one to forget...cant see us finishing above city,chelsea or arsenal tbh...liverpool still have a better squad man for man .

ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh why coudnt we get vidal?and why has the transfer activity just froze :s

I dont like the term defensive midfielder, Makelele was the prime example of this role, United dont need a defensive midfielder, United need intelligent midfielders, when 1 or 2 (If its a 3 man midfiled) goes forward, 1 stays back and vice versa, we had it to a tee with Keane and Scholes, and some idiots would call Keano a defensive midfielder, Herrera and if its Vidal, their both intelligent midfielders to do this.

am not talking about LVG...i think he will go well and im waiting to see what he can conjure up...but even with this squad,its going to need something extremely extremely special to finish in the top 4. we have lost alot of players-with experience- and we have not replaced them. we have also needed reinforcements for quite a few yrs now as the squad is out dated, and we have not done that. nor has there been any signs that the transfer activity is moving forward.

this was meant to be the year we spent the most of players and rebuilding and finishing all of ou rbusiness before the world cup remember? yet all of our rivals have considerably strengthened with world class players to already very good squads...especially chelsea and arsenal.

i know its still july, but realisiticly, the targets that were available had we moved quick - kroos, khedira,sanchez, fabregas, schweini (doubt he will leave now after wc final performance) hummels (no way they will sell him now) di maria (will go to paris) are all not available. these players would have considerably improved a team who had finished 7th last year and were aiming to challenge.

Do not panic, don't forget LVG has had a world cup to contend with .

Also none of us know what is going on behind the scenes, and we have some good youth players.

I'm sure things are under control, the papers know Jack, so I wouldn't take too much notice of them.

Also , who said this was meant to be the year we spent the most on players?

But look on the bright side, whatever happens will be an improvement on last season .

I'm sure there will be a few surprises before the season starts .

Also, why is Vidal 1/12 to sign for United with the bookies ?

i meant that this was the year when there was major rebuilding and when woodward said - in may i think it was- that there will be more transfer activity than usual this summer, i believed him.

am not panicking but its pretty annoying to see all of our rivals strengthen with top quality players-some of them world class- whilst we are just sitting there. i agree shaw and herrera are good moves, but too much cannot be put on their young inexperienced shoulders.

I dont want us to be left lagging behind again this year, so am just wishing for the best now

The window hasn't even closed yet, and already we have signed Luke Shaw and Anders Herrera . LVG has been at the club 25 minutes .

Do not worry about other teams, we will be back on track shortly.

Last season was the worst for many a year, and also we do not have a divine right to success .

A lot of our younger supporters have been spoilt with continuous success over the last 25 years .

I have been supporting united for 60 years , if you are worried now, it's a good job you didn't follow them in the 70's ( I presume you're not old enough, forgive me if you are) .

Also, you say " but too much cannot be put on their young inexperienced shoulders" I take you back to the start of our dominance, what did Alan Hansen say ? .

Believe me, compared to others, we are not hard done by .

If anything, this transfer should have already happened (just like the sanchez one) but the fact that it hasn't yet means that it's very unlikely. I just hope it doesn't drag on and on like the 2 I mentioned earlier.

Actually, I am still wondering what is LVG grand plan. Arsenal has strengthen their squad considerably with Sanchez and Khedira, Chelsea too with Costa and Fellipe Luiz. We had Luke Shaw and Herrera but I am still having constant nightmare about what plan we had if ever we fail to secure Vidal or the likes of Strootman. Can we compete on the same footing as they are with our limited midfielders? Besides, our defense is always having difficulty trying to hold attacks off unless Smalling, Jones and Evans can step up their abilities. I believe LVG can still go on well without a winger but not without a DM to hold off when the team is being attacked. I pray that we get a few more good news in this week to comfort our worries.

I don't believe the rumoured £35M is the bargain point for Vidal. I think upto £40M should be a no brainer for the player of that calibre. Therefore, the bargain range must be between £45M TO £55M. By judging all rumours, United is not willing to exceed £40M for Vidal because they have to prepare a package wherein comes personal terms with the player so you are dealing with £80M To £90M in totality based on the length of the contract.

So, hopefully we will get him sooner because atleast it is clear now that personal agreement with player is already done and it is now upto United and Juventus to agree a fee. The main thing is Vidal is willing to come. :)

Also.......LVG has just been to club today so let him have a good refreshing first night with Truus in Manchester with his Golden Wily at his best. :D :D

And......at the press conference we will know more from "The Father of Modern Football" himself.
