That pass by Paul for Wayne's first was once of the best passes I have seen. Genius.

It was a long ball that caught us out on the counter with most of our team caught upfield..(sorry for the multiple posts...something went wrong while posting)

Fantastic game and a real battering in the second half. Rooney's goal had me jumping for joy, but in hindsight, perhaps it did more bad than good. It put us in the driver's seat and Milan were up for it in the second leg. If it ended 2-2, then Milan might not have been so fired up at the San Siro.

Great game that was. I felt so ecstatic when Rooney scored the winner, I thought the win would uplift our players' confidence and drive us to win the second leg too. It's a shame we couldn't do the job away. We have more or less the same players now; but the difference is they have become much better; Fletcher, Evra, Rooney, and Carrick namely are in good form at the moment and undoubtedly improved. We don't have our first choice defence but at least Rio is back.

I agree with Fze123. Many of our players have grown and developed since this encounter. Rooney is much better, same goes for Fletcher and Evra. Too bad Giggs and Vidic are out. But at least we have Rio in the defense now.

I kind of have a feeling that Milan were stronger back then than they are now. Kaka was in exceptional form at this time.

I wouldn't mind seeing this lineup tonight.

VDS
Brown - Rio - Evans - Evra
Valencia/Nani - Fletch - Carrick - Scholes - Park
Rooney

Perhaps kind of defensive but we can hit them on the counter with the pace of Rooney and Valencia/Nani...just like we did against Arsenal.

Paul Scholes has lit up more than one Champions League semi final hasn't he.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried when Rooney scored that winner. :-D

I was caught up in the moment and believed I had just witnessed Rooney and that United team come of age. I was sure we were going to win the competition.

Obviously the return leg was an absolute shocker, but fortunately we only had to wait a year to see Rooney, Ronaldo & co lift the European Cup. Good times. :-)

I think we should go 4-3-3 like at the Emirates. Take the game to them. I can see Rooney getting on the scoresheet.
