samuel - united WE stand September 12, 2010
Moving to real madrid wouldn't solve his problems and his career would stagnant anyway, the tabloids will still follow him like a dog after a bone as he is englands golden boy and the glazers WOULDN'T DARE SELL HIM, riots would happen

He needs to knuckle down and get back to last seasons form, nothing more nothing less.

@Corea

I can never make out what our fans are chanting. My hearing isn't good when it comes to football chants.

Honestly, I don't know whether the money issue came into play yesterday. The game was in the palm of our hands with 2 minutes to go. The more worrying thing for me is that this team has forgotten how to defend. Makes me wonder how much practice is done on the training ground. Evans and Vidic were our pairing for most of the games of that famous 14 clean sheet run just 2 years ago. Looking at them yesterday, you would think they were different players. O'Shea, whom plenty of our fans like to critisize, was also in that team. What happened to him?

As for Tuesday, I see us lining up like this:

VDS -O'Shea, Rio, Vidic, Evra - Valencia, Fletcher, Giggs, Nani - Rooney, Berbatov

Haven't seen any signs that Rafael and Gibson will be called upon for a game like this.

With more stories about Rooney this weekend, i don't think he'll start on Tuesday, maybe the bench. Scholes has to start, need someone to open up Rangers and Gibson should be given nod over Ando, unless he's fit and ready to go.

There's no doubt the boss will freshen it up, with Liverpoo on Sunday, maybe Fletch could be rested for the Gers game.

The problem with Scholes is that he has admitted that he can't play 3 games a week. And yesterday, it was evident that he was tired after the 70th minute. He could use a break. So can't see Fletch getting rested either. The only doubt is who his partner will be. I mentioned Giggs but he also played 90 minutes yesterday. So it's either Gibson or Ando.

Speaking of Gibson, did anyone notice that he took his track suit off and the manager sent him back to the bench yesterday?

willierednut September 12, 2010
Yeah, saw that. I still don't know why he didn't start yesterday, the lad deserves a run in the team imo. Saying that, i actually thought JOS done ok and he nearly buried one in the top corner lol. On fletch, could we rest him against Rangers, because the dippers game is now a massive 3 points we must get.

Costas September 12, 2010
Well, if we rest both Fletch and Scholes, we might play our Irish duo of O'Shea and Gibson in midfield. Or travel back in time and play O'Shea and Giggs like we did in 05-06. Or play Gibson and Ando together. Either way it doesn't sound too promising. :P

Does Fletch need a rest? He has played a lot in the last month. I think what Fletcher needs even more is to get back to his 08-10 form. He is becoming more of a threat on the attacking side of things, but defensively he hasn't been as good. Can't remember United ever having 21% of possesion like we did at some point in the first half. Not even when we played at the Camp Nou or thr Bernabeu.

I'd rest Fletch and play Scholes. We can get beat Rangers without Fletch, but no one can see a pass like the ginger prince.

everyone keeps talking about evans mistakes? can some please point out where these mistakes came??? oshea was marking cahill on the 2nd goal.. and vidic/oshea again got beat for the second header.. why is everyone blaming evans?.. yes he made silly fouls but so did our legend our club captain(or old club captain) he made silly fouls time after time.. why is nobody blaming him?
i thought evans done pretty well.. made great interceptions and tackles.. obviously he wasnt at vidic's standard but who the hell is?

obertanthenewstar - There's always a scapegoat, last year it was Berba, this year it seems it's Evans. He's still a youngster, and still learning his trade, but some fans don't seem to have any patients these days.

only positive is.. we always start off badly and we get stronger as the games go on.. but to drop points like that really does suck

p.s everyone talking about chelsea's easy games but they have the momentum... and that momentum could get them throught the harder games as their confidence is sky high... its really not looking good for us in the league.. although its still early... you have to take that on board... going to be hard for us.. specially as our confidence is at rock-bottom

Still trying to find out who was supposed to mark Arteta in their second goal. Pretty sure it wasn't Evans.

The only positive sign is that I haven't seen any Berbaflop or Berbacunt references here after a bad result in which Berbatov played as the main striker. What the hell has happened to this place?

p.s did anyone notice in the first half nani was tracking back like a man possesed?? but the second half he stopped and everytime there was a 2 on 1 with baines (who provided the cross in the both goals) having the time of his life on that side??? we need valencia back! valencia wouldnt have stopped... and would have blocked a few of those crosses in or pressured him into doing something different...

same as the left side imo... giggs was playing as a striker at times leaving the defensive wing work to evra on that whole side??? that is just asking for trouble... evra could handle it to a extent but poor old gary couldnt.. and it resulted in two goals

anyone agree?

dont want to sound negative, but Evans were much at fault for the 2nd goal..

he was marking Cahill, then he ran into a STRANGE position and as the cross came in he ran back to Cahill but not in time to head the ball away for him..

O'shea came from behind and had to do Evans job..
You also see O'shea being furious at Evans after the goal..
not saying I've lost patience with Evans, just that he still has much to learn, and needs to bulk up a bit..

still it is wrong to give more blame to Evans than Evra for the 1st goal, and even Giggs for not marking Arteta on the last goal.. Evans is only 22 whereas the other 2 are more experienced..
Giggs were probably tired as hell, and should have been subbed off if that's the case.. then that is Fergie's fault.. so I think we can draw a conclusion that Evans shouldnt be a scapegoat..

and needs to bulk up http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xesbq9_everton-v-manchester-united_sport?start=923

you really see the difference between Vidic and Evans..
they even analyze the two goals in the end and the poor defending

Fletcher's peformance yesterday highlighted our great need for a gritty DM/ballwinner. He wasn't at the races yesterday, if we had a cover for him on the bench (a new signing) then we could have brought him on for Fletcher, or started the game with both. Our midfield this season has got overrun far too easily, we seriously look vulnerable in the middle when Fletcher is not playing or having a bad game. Our defence is not as solid or protected well, and as a result we are leaking goals. Yesterday's defensive errors happened because of a sudden lack of concentration, which many defenders experience constantly, but we didn't have the defensive midfielders who sit deep and help out when things are chaotic at the back. After Fletch I think Ando is the best defensivley, a notch better than Carrick, but both haven't played first team football for a while and when they're back it'll take them a while to get into their groove and hit some form. This all should have been taken into consideration in the summer, ffs.

Cant take motd's analysis as much proof of anything, they pick and choose clips that back up and exaggerate their claims.
Also anyone slagging off berba and nani are a) idiots and b) picking on the easy targets, Giggs and Scholes were missing chances as well!

With O'Shea @ center of the midfield, without Anderson, Carrick and Hargreaves, honestly what did we expect?

Chelsea played against shite teams so far, we got points where we struggled in the past years.

The top form has to come from March, so don't start dreaming nightmares! 34 fixtures still fck sake...

no he was not..
he lost the duel which led to the dangerous situation and the goal..
if he had won it.. if we had been lucky and Vidic was taking on Cahill the ball would never had ended up in a dangerous position like the middle of the penalty area..
why dont you just watch the link I posted mate.. they fully analyze it there..

oh, that is a wierd thing to say.. cant see anyone in here analyzing the situation any better than the guy on MOTD, dont know who it is, but he sure has a good point.. it is not rocket science.. it is mostly logical, and they back it up with video technology etc..

Sprite - You don't know who it is? Where have you been mate? It's Alan Hansen, ex Liverpoo captain. You talking as if Jonny is on Vidic's level, he's not mate, he's still learning the game, it's not a fair comparison.

Snatching a draw from the jaws of victory. Who says Sir Alex is always right? Does he have some divine right to make bad decisions and we are not allowed to criticise him? If a manager doesn't learn from the mistakes of the very previous game then maybe he should shoulder all the blame for this one. Maybe Sir Alex has lost the plot a little bit.

Yeah, sorry guys, Bigphil.. you are spot on about Berba/Nani.. of course we shouldnt take Hansen's words as gospel.. but he is a former CB and I believe he has a point here..

willie: I started watching football in 1996, 5 years after he retired, and I never watch any channels with Hansen cause I dont live in the uk, so I cant say I recognized him..

Costas @ 11:35: "As for Tuesday, I see us lining up like this:

VDS -O’Shea, Rio, Vidic, Evra – Valencia, Fletcher, Giggs, Nani – Rooney, Berbatov"

As ALWAYS, you second-guess the OldFootieKnight at your peril. I would be very surprised to see Giggs starting - like Scholes, his playing-time is being rationed and Rangers at home isn't a priority - Liverpoo on Sunday is ! I'm also not sure that O'Shea will get a start at right back ahead of Rafael or ?? Wesley Brown who has played a fair bit with the reserves (and his little brother). And, these cup ties are games for Kuszczak. So, I think that Vidic, Evra, Fletcher, Nani are certainties while Rooney will be put back in the saddle (so to speak) alongside either Chicharito or KikoTheKid. I'm less sure about Valencia, Rio, and Berbatov. But, what do I know ? I've largely given up on trying to predict SAF's starting line-up - he manages for the whole season, not just game-by-game.

on the positives, compared to last season, we did much better at everton, they killed us when we played there last season, this was our own fault and that can be fixed. Same with Fulham.

If anything it is a great wake up call that we need to sort out our defence before the rangers and liverpool games. They are at OT, but still, offensively we are doing great, now we just need to take care of the back.

Evans is still a kid too, he has probably had more pressure than anyone at that age, and has done pretty damn well for someone that young, playing for such a big club with all the expectations.

Rangers game will be very interesting. Can't see Scholes starting, he was hardly in it the last 20 minutes. Needs a rest. The game should be an opportunity to mix in some fringe players. I am hoping we see Anderson or Carrick paired with Fletcher with Gibo coming on for the last 25 minutes. I hope we see Rafael or Brown at RB. I would like Vida, Evans/Rio, Evra and VDS to fill out the back. Park might get a game. Be fun to see Berba and Chicho have a goal with Roo slotted deep up front.

FZE @ 13:59: "Fletcher’s peformance yesterday highlighted our great need for a gritty DM/ballwinner. He wasn’t at the races yesterday, if we had a cover for him on the bench (a new signing) then we could have brought him on for Fletcher, or started the game with both. "

You can't have it both ways - yesterday DarrenFletcherinho (football genius) was given the role of attacking midfielder and scored a brilliant goal (and, yes, in my biased opinion it was a "better goal" than the one scored by DimitarBerbatov since the degree-of-difficulty in redirecting/volleying the waist=high cross was far greater than the take-down and strike on the Berbatov goal) while being freed from the demands of acting as Paul Scholes' caddy. That's what John O'Shea was assigned to do and he did it well, in my opinion.

On the other hand, you are right that the squad could use another player with the dynamism of Fletcherinho - but, then, what team wouldn't want two such players ?

Sorry, but that Hansen analysis is biased to say the least. You mean to tell me that Cahill won every battle against Evans and lost every one against Vidic? Plus, completely ignored the fact that Arteta was unmarked on the second goal and again, that isn't Evans' responsibility.

@denton

"Always" second guess? Come on now. Besides, it's not second guessing. It's how I think he might line up on Tuesday based on how he has utilised the players until now. Apples and oranges. The Giggs inclusion, I said it later, was a risk on my part. Because he played 90 minutes yesterday. So that's the biggest question mark going into the Rangers game. I'd love to see Rafael and Gibson get the nod, but they haven't played at all this season. Same goes for Wes Brown.

But hey, that's just one fan's opinion. I've never predicted a Fergie line up correctly. If I am not mistaken, Fergie han't played the same team in consecutive matches for the 128 games. But, I know I will get one of them correct one of these days!

Lads,

Havent been on at all this weekend so my first post after the match!

Anyway before i read previous comments i think i will post my view before its biased by anything i read!

I thought we played well, i was impressed with Berbatov he really looked lively. Nani played reasonably well also 2 good crosses for the goals. Still needs to work on his game though. Made a few poor decisions which a more experienced player wouldn't have done.

Thought Giggs & Scholes Game Dropped nearer the end, they both had good games.

Evans & Vidic - I thought these pair did all right, didn't look too troubled!

Evra - Boy oh boy what was he doing with his clearance! If he had got infront of the attacker we wouldn't have conceded! Know the lad has a bit on his mind but Kick up the arse for him!

Nevile - Looked a little rusty but didnt doo too much wrong in my eyes! Im a nev fan anyhow!! HAHA

Final Goal - Why oh why oh why did we not keep the ball for the last minute!... From Kick off we kicked the ball either to their keeper or their defender. Why not play back. Play it about and then kick it into touch high up the pitch.. Push up and go man for man!.. We were too deep on their return and we leake a final goal! DOnt think anyone was too blame just one of them things!

Overall i say fair play to everton!

Overall i am a little miffed at how wasteful we were in the second half! Poor Decision after poor decision in front of goal and it hurt us in the end!

Didnt see match of the day but just viewed a stream of Hansens comments.

I honestly didnt think evens played that badly! He always is going to be an easy target cause he is young! Anyhow, I do remember a few excellent blocks during the game and was pleased with his performance!

Hansen just likes to knock united players, he will pick on the weakest or the easiest target! He always was and always will be a cock!

Evertons second goal it was vidic that got under the ball and Missed the Clearing header which left Cahill behind him a free header! How hansen blames Evans is beyond me!

@sprite, yeah i agree that Hansen probably knows a thing or two, but just meant that they'll pick the best bits out of vidic's performance and the worst out of Jonny's to make good TV. Like willie said they are at different stages in their careers and we cant expect Jonny to be at Vida's level just yet.
