I have to agree that Diouf and Wellbeck look iffy among the lot. Berba won't be going anywhere.
I would love to see Alexis Sanchez from Udinese, good left foot, tough, hard working and can play off the striker. And if we get a player like Van der Vaart on the cheap, he would be a good creative addition. Still think we missed out on Sneijder!

@ Marq

Agreed that I saw only his top 10 goals but you can see from that that he has a goalscoring mentality....... He moves like a proper striker and just seems to have that instinct like Michael Owen........ Berbatov is great for the mood of the squad and he does not complain on being left out...... Agreed but he has played in only less than 10 of our 26 biggest games since joining us....... Now I as a United fan would want a 30 million quid striker to throw a tantrum at being left out consistently...... I just get the impression that he shirks away from the big games....... Don't get me wrong, I like Berbatov but he probably lacks the attitude needed to succeed here..... Also he does not fit into our formation...... We typically like a 4-3-3 with fast moving football and the top 3 interchanging as in 2007-08 with Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez....... This new guy also looks mobile enough to do that...... One observation on Berbatov....... When we went to 3-2 against Bayern, Berbatov was still not on the shoulder of the last defender causing even Van Buyten, a CD to attack us...... For me an excellent striker for Bulgaria where he is played as a poacher..... Also SAF needs to tell him not to take more than 2 touches at a time..... He slows us down way too much....

P.S. Rossi and Pique left because they wanted first team opportunities..... We did not offload them!

Also forgot to mention that if you see Berba for Bulgaria he scores tons of goals because he is the point man and always in the box...... For us you just don't see him in a goal scoring position too often.....

what we need is a central midfielder and Hamsik should be the one we buy. forget about Villa or aguero, we cannot afford them these days

@elvido
Completely agree with u mate about van der vaart.I would prefer van der vaarty over joe cole just because van der vaart is not injury prone and is a great creative midfielder.
@musca
Y should we sell welbeck or any other youngster.i think welbeck should not be sold or any other youngster for that matter.
As far as berba is conserned i would not sell him atleast this summer.he has a great attitude and is a humble guy,we united fans should respect these kind of guys instead of always critisising about them.
Player that could be going out this summer may be carrick.i was a huge fan of this lad but i think he does not able to perform in big games.But again its all upto fergie whom to sell and whom to sign.
IN FERGI WE TRUST

@urval87

So we agree Berbatov is a good player. So why sell him? Is it not up to the mangement to fit him a role for plan B? So you'd rather pump for a someone whom you have just watched a video clip on, and sell someone we know is good? Why not do the simple thing and keep Berbatov and think again for Welbeck and Diouf?

For Diouf, I am not sure about it, but looking at his debut that time, he looked more like Manucho. As for Welbeck, we all have said for some time that he needs to bulk up, but has he? Take a look at Rafael now, he has a much muscular built now compared to 1 year ago. And that is what we are looking out for in young players, if not in actual contribution, at least show that work is being done out of the spotlight.

As for who we really need, I feel we are lacking someone to take control just outside of the opposition penalty box, making those small defence splitting passes. Something Xavi does it for Barcelona, Kaka used to do it for Milan, even Fabregas is doing it for Arsenal. We have great defensive midfielders in Fletcher, Hargreaves, Anderson and Carrick. But we do not have someone who can create something out of nothing from that position.

Understand that these kind of players are hard to find, but apart from Anderson, we haven't really tried to put some flair into that central position, all our youngsters bought in are defenders, wingers and strikers.

I hope he is not another Manucho, Nevland, Rossi, Campbel, Dong, Bellion etc. We say he is good and than we loan him or sell him in no time. I`m not surprised that this is an attempt by the Glazers to sell shirts in central America as well.

We're not going to see the same 7 strikers on the payroll when next season starts, that's for sure.

Somebody is going. DUM DUM DUM.

Jack Rodwell would slot in nicely in our midfield cog. He can only get better and he's already pretty impressive as he is.

And Aguero? N*gga puhleese... all he is is Tevez without the 5 pounds of hideous..

Talking about a creative midfileder...Why didn't Fergie go for Sneider when he left Madrid? Could have even been part of the Ronnie deal. He's been immense for Inter this year...alal Scholesy in his Pomp.

Ive got to say, it seems that buys like this are going to be the pattern for the near future. The league has been so unpredictable this season because the top four have been frozen out of the market for top quality players. They have stagnated whilst mid-table teams pick up mid to high end players and are able to bridge the gap in quality. If people think this is going to change in the next few years they are kidding themselves, which is why I worry when SAF repeatedly insists that the market is overpriced. This is happening for two reasons: (1) he doesnt have the money to spend or (2) stubbornness.
Its only going to get worse this year...world cups tend to inflate prices (SAF alluded to this). Long story short, your going to have to either fork out on top quality players in their prime or increase the risk you take on board by throwing more money than usual at talent yet to reach its potential.

The young lad looks pretty good! Especially if SAF did get him for only 10mill and a game at your place.

My only concern for for Man U are players wages now starting to go through the 200,000 per/week as Villa wants to join us. Thats purely not sustainable..

Interesting times coming up...........

Does Keano have a younger brother!!!!!!!

I fully agree with Denton Davey, playing a half fit Rooney and startin with him in the 2nd half when we were 3-1 up and still 11 v 11 is as clear of a vote of non confidence in Berba as any ! The fact that he is saying he still trusts him shouldnt be taken too literally as we still have 5 games to go with Rooney struggling for fitness so criticisng Berba is not gonna gain anythin other than demoralise our only fit established striker ! Imo its a case of actions speak louder than words

Having said that I very much doubt that Berba will be moved on as we would be making a big loss (dont think we'd get more than 15 mill for him) and SAF for all his qualities is notoriously stubborn in these situations

As a fan, I would have to agree with 123--the purchases (Obertan, Diouf, Hernandez, etc.) that we are seeing most likely will become a pattern. It seems to me that if United are trying to spot to quality talent early and then develop it, we run the same risks that you do when we buy a big name player, except now there is less to lose.

To me it seems like we go from high stakes gambling (Berbatov or any other big name signing), to gambling with smaller amounts of money (Obertan, Diouf, Hernandez). The only difference we have now is that if one of our smaller bets go bad, it is hard to really lose money. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about games.

If we these players do not come good, the team does not continue to develop and we all new the consequences that follow. With that being said, I am not trying to slight the players, I just think that our betting has changed.
