Anthony Martial put France 2-1 ahead against Croatia just before half-time in this evening’s Nations League game.

Our forward wasn’t even in the squad when France played Croatia in their victorious 2018 World Cup final but looks like a new player under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Ahead of the game, France captain Hugo Lloris sang the praises of the striker, claiming he had noticed the difference in his confidence levels, as Martial returns to the French squad.

I don’t know if it’s related to his relationship with Solskjaer, but we have found him more confident. He has a great connection with his teammates at Manchester United, and that allowed him to score goals and have great numbers in his part season. We are expecting him to deliver, and he will have to confirm what he can do. He is here to play with this team, he wants to do well, whether it will be five or 10 minutes, one half or a whole match. He is ready to meet the expectations.
