Actually that's a good observation. Sunderland took control of the game after we switched to 4-5-1. That could be because Sunderland had one less player to worry about. Or it could be due to the fact that Rooney tired.

We were hanging on at the end, but i think it was due to not killing the game off. A confident Berbatov would have had a hat - trick today. @NRD Just about to watch motd 2 now, if i can bear it lol.

The lady boy looked overjoyed in the stands, he'll be off in the summer. I think SAF would be entitled to ask the question about Chelsea's opposition in the last 2 games, but we know it would be seen as sour grapes.

Yeah it would wouldn't it? Remember 2 years ago when we played Wigan on the final day of the season? Although they never said it clearly, the Chelsea camp were casting doubts about Brucey's integrity. Funny how 2 years later a Steve Bruce side gave United a tougher game than Liverpool did with Chelsea. And I also remember Avram Grant bitching about the Mikel red card at OT 9 months earlier!

That's the difference between us and them though. We take the high road. If Chelsea do win the title, if I were Fergie I would congratulate Ancelotti, but not their team.

Wigan to draw at least @ SB while Utd win agst Stoke? Stranger things have happened. Although all Utd fans wanted Pool to give Chelski a game at least, lets not forget the fact that the Premiership is a marathon and not a race.

The fact that we HAVE to rely on Pool drawing/beating Chelski @ this point of the season to improve our chances of landing the title speaks of Utd's inconsistencies this entire season.

Altho it hurts for me to say this, but kudos to Ancellotti (NOT the team) for him engineering 6 wins agst the title contenders (or APPARENT contenders for some .. -cough- Scouse-scum -cough-) this season.

Like what Scott posted; it is not our God-given right to win the EPL every year. It is a common deluded thought that ABUs worldwide think we're arrogant bcos we think we should win every ball, every match, every championship just cos we're Utd.

True fans of Utd would know this is not true. And come next week, if we end up handing the title back to Chelsea, I would like to think a majority of us would stand up and applaud Chelsea for being just that bit more consistent than us; but more importantly, we should applaud our boys (yes EVERY ONE of them) for coming this far this season.

Journalists wrote us off from the start of the season that we're 'past it' this season; especially after we sold Ronaldo and let Tevez go. Well, if by 'failure' they mean actually still to be the only team CHALLENGING for the Premiership and potentially only loosing to the champions by ONE point and ONLY exiting the Champions League at the quarter-final stage....

Then i can only surmise they are indeed only saying it would be a 'failure' from a very United perspective. And i can agree with that =)

Good luck (will need lots of it) to Utd and Wigan next weekend. If nothing goes our way, rest assured Utd will be back next season, hungrier and more motivated that ever.

I was hoping that it wouldn't go to the last day,like maybe we'll be top by yesterday or the week before,but oh well,i'll take this situation any day.I'm absolutely proud with the way we played yesterday and our attitude's great.We hoped the scousers would help us but they've become more despicable after yesterday's game.I'd think Mascherano was the only player who showed some sort of frustration.would wigan help so,the chances are seriously very very low,but we're United and we'll never die.I'm delighted we're playing for the title all the way to the last game.I for sure don't think this season was disappointing because for the amount of injuries we had and some poor performances,we've managed to stay one point to the top.

Although many would have been saying that chelsea are way superior and strong this season citing their 7 nil wins against villa and stoke as evidence,i beg to differ.if they were that superior then why aren't they way ahead of us?I'm not being deluded but just stating the facts.we're within touching distance for what's supposed to be a 'transitional' period and 'where are the goals going to come from' season.i'm proud of us.

While Rooney has been a gem as usual,it's really heartening to see how some of our players have stepped up too.I can't express my delight for Nani,it's just great to see what confidence does to a person.His daring runs like we saw against spurs and sunderland the last 2 weeks makes me think-this boy's going to having great seasons from now on.Fletcher as usual indispensable.I just wish VDS was younger-but i'm positive the man can keep on going.Giggs,Scholesy,Nev need i say more?

i'd scratch my head with Carrick and Berba.Carrick's been rueful at times this season,he could have even costed us the game against the scousers at OT.when he's on top,he's a splendid midfielder.but we've gotten very few of those type of performances this season.the only significant good game he had that instantly comes to my mind would the 4 nil win against milan.Midfielders are crucial cos they decide the game i feel.look at Scholesy,his only poor game i remember was probably the 3-0 defeat against fulham.Fletcher has been outstanding throughout,only his tiredness showed during the immediate game after our Champions league exit.

i've never been a Berba-basher and will never be.But he's really got some confidence issue.it was painful to see him miss those 3 big chances yesterday,of course my tone would have been a whole lot different had we not returned from the stadium of light without the victory we got.He looked sheepish and probably felt like sinking into the ground when he got subbed,but i'm sorry i'm still gonna say that Berba's a quality quality player.the pressure's weighing down on him.Prove them all wrong next season Berba.we wouldn't be breathing down his neck like we are now,if we hadn't paid the hefty 30 million that we did.he's doing his job but it's not at his best.at spurs,he was a big fish in a small pound-no disrespect to spurs of course.at United,Berba's a small fish in a big pond.if he's a star player he isn't the only one at United.it's all about the confidence level.

now on to 9 May.i'd say Wigan stand a low low low chance.But as every United fan,i BELIEVE.hope stays till the final whistle blows.i'm confident we'll play well against stoke.if we're going to lose the title by that 1 point-that's the time to think:
1)if carrick hadn't missed that penalty against burnley
2)if valencia hadn't scuffed that 1v1 against blackburn a few weeks ago
3)if the drunk linesman at OT for the chelsea game wasn't drunk
4)if foster hadn't made the silly mistakes that he did
5)if we hadn't had a makeshift defence for so long(can't believethat we actually have the meanest defence in the league)
and many more.
If we win the title this will be the first think that comes to mind.
THOSE TWO DYING SECOND GOALS AGAINST CITY.

A very nice goal. Looks good on first, looks better on replay. Nani is the most improve player this season. What a valuable goal. He won many games for us this season. Last week against Tottenhm and this week against Sunderland. Any remember more? Arsenal this season where he assist too. Single handedly won us more points. I still think the match against Chelsea at OT he should have started. We might get a different result. With Nani starting the match this season, United had not lose a match. Surprising stats.

I think Scott has already admit he think Berbatov time is up a few weeks on Berbatov article. To succeed in United, you had to have the utmost confidence in yourself. Unfortunately, under no pressure from the first chance yesterday before the 2nd half, he miss that and couldn't test the keeper. That for me was worsen than the one inch near the goalpost.

Listening to Talksport today a Rentboy fan who was the match was saying he could not believe it when the Dippers in the Stadium were giving them an applause and a thumbs up and harldy any of the fans singing their vile YNWA.
No question the game was thrown and Gerrard needed to give a helping hand to the rentboys to make sure. A dispicable club with dispicable fans.
It would be sweet if Wigan did us a favour and we beat Stoke. Would be the most unexpected end to a season since 95 and 89.

i never said i hated him...in fact i think he's a great person , a very modest person and a great proffesional...but a very average player...

as for berab and tevez - i can't be arsed to repeat why tevez is a better player and why he doesn't need a team to adapt to him ...all in all, bertba is one paced , one tridck pony and a very one dimesnional who has a great touch, slows us down with his holding up the ball, he's always late, barely runs to open up space and spends too little time in the box.oh and wastes too much sitters that it's beyond belief

people say it's a confidence issue but those very same people didn't want to understand tevez's lack of confidence last season when he had to warm the bench to an inferior player...berba on the other hand didn't have to warm the banch to anyone ( bar rooney is some matches, which is understandable ) and he has only himself to blame because he's had all the time and support in the world to show his supposible class and he's failed to do it....i just want him gone - i won't hold any grudges angainst him, he can get a testemonial as far as i'm concerned but i want him out of my club

he offers to little presence, too little movement, no counter attacking threa, no areal threa, dangerous runs, he slows us down, disapppears in the big games, all in all he is not a player for a big club...it happens, some people are just not capable of dealing with the pressure and they should just move on

ill be honest with you and he is no different here. He is very negative when it comes to united but always feels bad when United dont do well. Something like 'not wanting to tempt fate' or 'preparing for the worst' type.

You possibly misunderstood that post earlier. All he meant to say earlier was dont have much hopes of liverpool getting anything from the game because you will end up being disappointed. Not anything related against United just that its difficult to trust the dippers given their mentality.

CROoney: You have a fair point mate, but for me in Sunderland when he came off Sunderland looked the side more threatening. Granted, he could have finished off those chances he had, especially the one in the first half (I attribute the other 2 to bad luck and impressive defending by Sunderland) to make things less nervy as it was, but I will not put him down as an average player.

That said, I thought we missed Valencia a little. His speed down the flanks alongside Nani can outplay a lot of defenses in the Premier League. We just need to find the replacements for Giggs and Scholes.

No, Liverpool didn't owe us nothing. Just like Sunderland and Blackburn didn't owe Chelsea nothing, yet they fought their guts out against us. They didn't roll over like some cheap whores like Stoke did at the Bridge. In a title race, title contenders play with indifferent teams all the time. So even though, Liverpool didn't cost us the title yesterday, the mentality with which some teams approach these games might have.

Liverpool owed it to themselves and their history to play well. And their fans owed it to their YNWA anthem to cheer them on. At least it was nice to watch them show that they are not a bigger club than Lazio nowdays. Here's hoping that they continue down that miserable road for the following decades. They deserve it.
