Samuel @ 18:59: " i’m only left baffled as to why he’s left out but i guess the terry scandal has something to do with that, subsequently highlighting the shambles that’s the football association."

My "guess" is that EBJT is reckoning on the FA coming on their knees saying "pretty please" so he can come back as the new-sherrif-in-town.

Woy has made a rod for his own back with his treatment of Rio - that lame excuse ("footballing reasons") for calling on Martin Kelly (a part-timer for an 8th place club, no less) was just pathetic. If I were Rio - and, of course, I'm not - I'd just get on with my club career, for the club that pays my wages and treats me with respect.

Rio cannot expect to be a regular, first-choice player any more - his niggling injuries, his declining foot-speed AND the challenge coming from Evans and BigManSmalling must mean that when/if CaptainVidic is match-fit that SAF will rotate all four. Maybe he'll go with Rio in "big games" but maybe not. IF Nemanja, Jonny, Chris, and MrJones are all match-fit then I reckon that Rio's days as an "automatic choice" are numbered (and it will be a very small number, too).

goat @ 17:24: " I think the 4-3-3 should be the base formation for United especially if we are going to have Rooney in the team."

I'm on record as being no fan of "formations" since even that 4-3-3 "base formation" will actually work out differently depending on which guys are in the "midfield 3" and which ones are selected for the "front 3".
With TheWayneBoy as the key player - I'm with Zibbie on that ! - then the others will be selected to play around him. The only certainty, it seems to me, is that there's going to be less dependence on old-fashioned "traditional wing play" and much more emphasis on interchanging, what I like to call the "whirligig" which worked a treat in 2008 and should do so again with RVP and KagawaBunga.

Rooney regrets engLands mistakes
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/mobile/football/19917398

Smalling nearing his return
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/mobile/football/19852677 exciting!!!!!! Little angels return

Our following games after the piss taking internationals!!! Fucking hate it
http://news.bbc.co.uk/mobile/bbc_sport/football/teams/12/fixtures/index.shtml.

Finally, our internationals boys makes us proud again!!!!
No link
But kags, swags whatever you call him, despite some confusion as to who actually scored the winning goal it has now been confirmed that kags was the one who nicked it a couple of minutes from final whistle.
Welbeck fucking "navigator walker" just stay on your feet you bustard, again scored for england but so far non for his club which is crazy, crazy, the ingerland fans will still bash you even after that double. As I said, and it happened as I said it. The fucking twats will never ever praise any united player, it was all: you could of scored more than just 5, I mean.. Really!!! Just recognise and move on...
Rooney staying true to his words, the rejuvenated shrek filling the new role to incredible effects hopefully he keep up, cause on that form he surely ganna win us trophies, tom setting a new record which's great. And that fucking funny moment: shelvey's introduction! Uncle loy lost right there for me... Earning england caps its sooo easy this days, that thug managed to screw the fun jus like heskey did, but good for the humour fanatics cause english jokestars will not let the chance escape unnoticed.

Chacha, what can I say...
Star always good never gone back only's that he's missed a lot of games to keep him moving..
Also missing the olympics might have impacted his performance in a bad way, but recovering just fine. I love the kid to bits.. Smile chicha smile!!!

Heard that flecharinos scotland were robbed last night just don't know how
But good to hear he played 90mnts.
Van persie's holland lost to wales but as long as he still score for united its fine by me!!!!

Evening ROM!!!!

Samuel @ 19:16: "Centre half is his best bet and to do that, i hope he’s been learning the trade off more experienced players in that position. I don’t want him turning into a jack of all trade and master of none."

I completely disagree - I'm not sure that MrJones can ever become a top-notch central defender or a top-notch central midfielder BUT let's not forget that John O'Shea was one of those jack-of-all-trades kinda guys and he played more than 400 matches for UTD. I think that SAF was a touch precipitous in showing him the door - if O'Shea would have accepted a more limited role then I'd be happy to have him in the red shirt, last year AND this year.

I don't know how old you are but the great Leeds teams of Don Revie always benefitted from Paul Madeley's versatility; more recently, Massimo Ambrosini was a key player at ACMilan although he was never going to get into the first team if the eleven, first-choice guys were fit. AND, that's the issue, the other eleven guys are almost NEVER all fit. I reckon that a trophy-challenging team needs at least six/seven guys who can come in and keep the ball rolling. IF that's what MrJones can provide then he will be a very valuable member of the team.

Shinji Kagawa has rubbished talk of the Manchester United midfielder playing for Barcelona, Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain in the future.

The Japan international has scored twice in six appearances for the Red Devils after completing a switch from Borussia Dortmund to Old Trafford this summer.

The 23-year-old was in top form for Japan on Friday night, with the attacking midfielder netting the winner in a 1-0 victory over France.

And Kagawa insisted he is fully focused on establishing himself as a first-team regular at the 19-time English champions.

“I have never thought about Barcelona or Madrid,” Kagawa told L’Equipe.

“Paris are a great team that will continue to grow this season. It is also a very nice city, but I am focused 100 per cent on life in Manchester.

“You never know what the future will hold.”

He added: “I am now a Manchester United player and the fans and my team-mates expect more from me.

“Since arriving in Manchester I have had to watch my behaviour on and off the pitch. In Japan and Dortmund I didn’t have so much pressure.

“Three years ago I couldn’t have imagined evolving so quickly and Bbeing at a great club like Manchester United. It is proof that you never know what can happen.”

I'm not sure i like the sound of this, kagawa has barely adapted to united yet and he's talking about barca and psg and saying "you never know". some way to go yet and needs to prove himself but he does have the potential to be a top top player. good finish against france last night, showing he's a big game player. He should be looking to emulate park in terms of staying long ar united.

I don't know where do they get from all the negativity towards Jones, I mean, the lad came into the scene almost as an unknown footballer and fergie bought him so early only because the other rivals were starting to show interest in him "maybe taught the kid would get some ridiculous offers and end up accepting hem" the likes of liverpool and on were all on his back.
But the kid despite all the bollocks of 'one for the future' he came and almost planted his position in the team on his first season
The kid was bombing up and down, breaking up plays, and it seemed to him like the reshuffle didn't affect him at all, his positional were terrible at times but that's bound to improve since he's still young and improving. The only only downfall for him is the recurring injuries which seems to hunt him down even when in the dugout..
All this trying to understand why has he suddenly became a victim of criticism, what has he done to deserve this.
And there's no prove he'll be the next O'shea, the kid is more talented than the latter only time will tell, but sureLy jones will become a better player, the talent's there the stamina, skills, determination all required to become a top lad is there.
Fuck it, save the lad while he recovers, all this bullshit weren't rounding whilst he could prove week in week out.
Judge the lad on the pitch, not off it

In the first paragraph he was coming good
Until he said, only time will tell
That in its own says a lot about what next move he may take
It may take a few year but apparently he won't retire here
IMO one who will realize he's passed all the tests in england and threaten for a move.
Can't blame him, its the trend this days.

The christmas tree formation the way for me
4-3-2-1

Rafael - smalling/rio - vidic/evans - evra/buttner

------fletcher---------tom---------carrick

- ----rooney------- kagawa----------

-------------------------van persie-------

He (cleverley) was doing very well vs newcastle, recycling the ball, really keeping the play ticking from the back, and it was from the the where we started our attacks at most with rooney dropping back collect to feed kags and kags to pick one final ball to release RVP while on the back we are steady and full backs providing the width

Zibbie still a long way to go,i was thinking about that Sir Alex took a lot of stick for not signing CM,with Tom C coming through,Fletch getting over his illness, who knows with Ando but has always had potential, looks obvious Rooney is going to play a deeper role do we need anyone else.Think it will depend on Nani's future, what position do you think needs to be strengthened

Denton - what i'm trying to say is jones has more potential to be a first choice, i would imagine he has more ambition to be more than a utility jack of all trade. O'shea might have settled for the bit part role but he wasn't the most gifted and was never going to hold a regular place, hence why he played that role. Jones surely would aspire to be a mainstay, he hopefully can if he continues to improve.

Wayne - he's japanese, they do tend to adapt to difficulties. I think he needs to get stronger and get used to the speed of the premier league. The manager has taken him off in much earlier stages of games, showing he needs time. I think psg and barca talk should be the last thing on his mind but i'm not placing hopes on him or any player, the game is filled with mercenaries. All i can say is, kagawa should take a look at park, he's not as talented as shinji but he was fully comitted and that brought its rewards.

I really don't see what all of you guys (and Fergie) see in Welbeck.

I read an article that described Welbeck as having touch, control and technique unlike any other English striker and my insides were laughing really. All he has is pace and he's willing to work hard.

But is that good enough for Man United? I hardly think so.

Of course, he's only young and I really do hope he proves me wrong and becomes a great striker. But for now, he kills me everytime time he's on the ball.

Welbeck only needs to improve his finishing other than that he has everything that a 21 year old upcoming footballer will ask for. I am very happy we signed him for a long term. Give lad more time and then you will see the results will show. We have great 4 strikers who can help us win many trophies. No need to bash them. Patience is the key to success.

Goat

Appreciate your concern about thiss blog but honestly I prefer the current state of the blog. There are 70-80 posts of which almost everyone is worth a read. Earlier there were 700-800 posts in a thread of which more than 60% were useless to read. I am not able to comment that because of the shit internet connection I have. But call me crazy for the past 1 hour or so I have been reading all the comments in previous 5-6 threads. Now I wouldn't have done that when there were 100's of useless comments.

And also I visited ND58 and saw people badmouthing the ROM. Now this is not correct. Its like after you leave the club you badmouth about it. I will not want those guys on ND58 to return to this blog. As much as I enjoyed cedars presence here it was shocking to see him badmouthing about this blog.

Yes it would be nice if we see some new posters posting in this blog. But have to say there are still many great posters here. I still rate this as the best blog and scott as the best writer.
Cheers

all this talk of ND58 got me curious to say the least. I googled it but didn't really find anything related to United or a blog called ND58. wouldn't mind checking it out if anyone has links

I agree with the above saying that 500-600 comments tended to get a bit much at times. since this is a blog, it's not exactly easy to keep track of who commented on what or who replied to whom, but this place does tend to get quite dead at times. That was rarely the case with ROM a couple of months ago. And not all that was said was crap.A lot of it was interesting or fun to read just for some laughs.

I come here for all my United related news, and i check this blog everyday, and go through the comments too. If I have something to add I post, otherwise I don't really find it very easy to hold full conversations with anyone here simply because they can be a little hard to keep up with. Still my primary United related website though

I was going to say that one of the reasons why this site is less visited these days was Sachu and his crap, but Gigg's magic left foot at 19:23 exposed him perfectly. It's natural that comments will decrease when the cancer itself isn't getting addressed.

Anyway. Nice to see Danny get off the mark. Hopefully he will do the same in a United shirt soon.

I have always rated Danny. He is far better than Carrol,Henderson,Sturridge,Walcott etc and is almost equal if not better than Ballotelli,Pedro etc. Lad is humble unlike many mercenaries and gives 100% on the field even if it doesn't work out properly. One for the future. Once he starts scoring regularly then see his impact.

I haven't posted on here for a while now, just like a lot of others I was put off by trolls, wum's and dual/triple/quadruple/multi personality users.

@Imran
yes it is "Never Die 58" and it is a forum, a bloody good one at that.

@ Harish
I don't need to stick up for ND58 or anyone on the forum, but there are some non truths you speak. Firstly no one has an issue with ROM, the issue is with certain posters on ROM, actually one with multiple user names, who comes on ND58 and cuts and pastes from it on here. He gets bad mouthed not ROM. There a numerous people who post on ROM and ND58 and there is no issue with it. As long as the talk is about United and in a civil manner, no probs.

@Wayne
I had a dig at you a while back and called you a name. I apologise for it, but one of the reasons you did get my 'goat' up was at your constant and negative comments about a United player that did not deserve any crap. It was your opinion and I was out of hand to bag you for it.
The main problem I had with your posts was an attack on a fellow ROM poster and a fellow RED supporter. You and another poster bullied him and that was, I felt, out of order. He was only expressing an opinion different to yours so I do not think iy was warranted. Maybe it wasn't my fight to fight but I couldn't help myself. Again apologies for it.

ND58 is for United supporters to talk about their passion and love for United. We have different opinions but it never gets down to verbals only serious debate.
I do occasionally read thru ROM but I won't post again, unless the 'user'

Don't know what happened with your registration mate, but I doubt it was anything personal. Maybe something went wrong at that moment.

Back to Danny. I agree that the boy is very talented. And something that gets overlooked is that he works a lot without the ball. Welbeck has faced a problem this season though. While everything lined up perfectly for him in 11-12, he's not in a comfort zone anymore. A couple of summer arrivals plus the change in system have thrown him off his game a bit and it's taken him a while to find his footing again. That's why I was glad to see him score, even if it was against San Marino.

These were also Rooney's first goals of the season. Just goes to show how valuable RVP has been since we haven't missed Rooney's goals this whole time.

Morning people

Let's talk about Nemanja, I love the guy and he has been a great servant for the club and for me he can go down as one of Fergies best pieces of business. Rumours of a 30m+ bid for him don't seem to be going away which suggest to me maybe there is some truth in them.

He isn't getting any younger and injuries seem to be getting more and more frequent, so that money must surely be tempting for Sir Alex. He sold Stam far too early and he has admitted his regret over it but the money been banded about and the business approach United have to transfers I can see it happening.

In the summer he will be 31 for the price we sell him we would be able to buy Hummels who will be 24.

Hummels would be a great buy. You are right we need replacements to vidic and Rio but I feel it would be unfair on the part of Jones,Smalling and evans to write them off. Who in the right mind will.buy a crocked vidic for 30mill? Never going to happen, the rumours are well rumours, you can't stop them. He's still not finished as a centre back though, his experience is priceless, i still think the likes of smalling, evans, jones (if he improves in that role), michael keane and wooton would push him for his place, really needs to hope he avoids recurring injuries. I don't see the hummels deal happening, potentially a world class centre half and all but he's going to cost massive fees plus he's probably barca, madrid or bayern bound, if united pull a deal like that off then great but it will not happen. Fergie has seen the younger players coming through in that role, i think he'll want that to see their development while hoping they step up.

Each one to his own i suppose but i totally disagree with this comment, it couldn't be further from the truth. Welbeck is just not about pace but of course it's is one of his assets and he'll damn well use it to good effect. His all round game is only only behind rooney and vanpersie in the united. His touch and control is good, he's imaginative and creative hence why he's always part of the one touch intricate moves around the box or scoring classy goals. He holds up play well and puts in a lot of shift up front which does encourage the entire team to follow suit. he's still learning the game and will hopefully continue to improve. His main issue is composure, it's something he really needs to work hard on, he's getting into key positions but rushing things, something i'd imagine the manager/coaches are helping him to sort out. Look, it's likely not everyone will have the vision to see his potential which is fair enough but he does possess a lot more skill/ability than just pure running, i think i'd be amongst those to point that out if it was the case.

@LucasUTD, if you can't figure why we're being patient with Welbeck and his missed chances. Then you should watch the review of ManUtd's 95/96 season and the amount of chances AndyCole missed. It was even miserable. But hey he was instrumental during our treble winning season.

One the of the reason we bought RVP this season is to bring experience(and confidence) to our strike force and Welbeck (and other young strikers) will benefit from playing & training alongside him. In a couple of years he'll be deadly.

So please hang in there, a treble winning season could be just around the corner, just in time before Fergie retires. 8)

My boss used to say, treat every idea royally (don't shoot them off right away just because you think it's stupid), for one of them would be a King someday.

In this case, we should treat every youngster that's making his mark at ManUtd royally, for one of them would be a King someday.

Patience & Believe...

Top post mate
I remember I felt frustrated with Darren Fletcher early on in his career, I couldn't understand what SAF saw in him, a few years after when the same Fletcher was sent off against Arsenal in the CL semi final, I knew we were doomed against Barca, in that space of time, Fletcher proved me wrong and hopefully Danny will do the same as the lad has huge potential, he is a Thiery Henry type of player yet Henry was not as good as Danny is at this age, if he improves his composure and finishing he could be an absolute beast of a player, the complete striker and a truly great player for us.

If we could combine Welbeck's strength & height with Hernandez's finishing & in-the-box movement, we'd have the perfect striker! =)

Welbeck needs to be more composed, not just his finishing, his decision making as well, many times we see him running through the middle only to refuse to release the ball to team mates out wide, and runs into traffic losing the ball. Composure & awareness comes with experience unfortunately, so we jus need to be patient
