Is someone really complaining about Welbeck. For me he is a top lad and a United prospect.

I never forget his first goal, and the first time he played, immediately thought that why SAF doesn't include him more.

Of course he is in a bad spell, but the guy is a genius. Just watch his goals. His movement and touch. And @Hamzah very well said. He is better than Henry was at his age. But somebody saw something in Henry (Wenger) and someone sees something in Welbeck (SAF).

He will be our future and present! Same as Cleverley, Powell, Smalling and Jones, the ones who doesn't understand this, will be surprised in a good way after 2-3 years!

@Marq, I agree with you, but remember that Ronaldo was also a bit selfish at his age, but developed his decision making and started getting goals.

It's hard to compare these two but one was a United player and one is so they have the similar experience. Let'ss hope DannytheLad gets his head right, and starts getting those goals.

Rooney will be captain of England once Gerrard hangs his boots up after the 2014 world cup.

Am I the only one that sees problems in tis sentance.
1.Gerrard is a foci for a team full of clueless football players. Only a non international player uses another player specifically in order to get the ball forward. An international player has the ability and range of passing to pick out a number of targets and do some of the work himself. Gerrard is a small clubs big time charlie. Gerrard is the reason England has failed, Gerrard is the reason Liverpool have failed and for the latter point I am eternally grateful. Rooney was the foci of all of Uniteds play last year and because of that myopia we failed against European competition and at times looked woefull on the offensive.
2.I wouldnt have taken Gerrard to the 2010 world cup let alone offer him a place for two years time when he should have hung his boots up along time ago - except for Liverpool.
3.If Rooneys good enough then England should go with youth and the future and throw the golden generation to one side.
4. Rooney is the new Bryan Robson for England and could well be for United too. He strikes me as the third midfielder or 3rd striker running into the box but more importantly utilising his size and strength and running abilities.
5.What type of manager is Hodgson if he regards old experienced players as having an automatic foot in the door. You play if your good enough and even Rooney has to prove himself on a weekly basis.

This is the reason I dont watch England anymore, I have absolutely no pride in the setup.

@goat

So true, the gerrard lampard conundrum was what kept ol' england from developing the pass and move football, lagging behind as the rest of the world evolved.
As for hodgeson's age bias, that guy is ridiculous, kelly in the euros instead of rio was my last straw for that loser, and as for his latest attempt at carrick, i say thanks but no thanks i'd rather carrick not get injured. you've had your chance with carrick!

Anyone else notice how it was rooney welbeck carrick cleverley in the squad? once powell jones and smalling goes into the england setup, it'd be just like old times again!

Proverb @ 20:08: "I don’t know where do they get from all the negativity towards Jones"

From me, it's not "negativity" but a realistic assessment of his up-side ability. Besides, I think that you seriously under-rate John O'Shea - when he came into the first team he looked like a super-star but he never kicked on to that level BUT he was an extremely valuable asset and, I think, was cast aside too soon. Of course, it might have been the case that O'Shea wouldn't settle for a lesser role BUT you have to think about the number of times that he would have started matches over the past 18 months to realize that his absence has seriously under-manned the first-team squad.

John O'Shea's departure was financial mismanagement I read he was on 70K towards the end? that's a lot of cash and we needed to free up the wage bill and Sir Alex couldnt know that Smalling and Jones would break so easily.

He was a true servant though, so many great moments. Miss him and miss Wes Brown too..Sunderland are lucky to have both.

five @ 18:42: "Sir Alex couldnt know that Smalling and Jones would break so easily."

Or Rio or CaptainVidic or Jonny Evans - all of whom have been among the walking wounded in the last 18 months.

Having "deep depth" is a luxury - but it's one that a team of UTD's ambition should be able to finance.

John O'Shea is now 30/31 ? That's not old for an experienced defender.

In my view, SAF pulled-the-trigger too quickly on O'Shea as well as Phil Neville. I don't know the reasoning behind their departures BUT I do feel that this team with those two experienced veteran back-ups would be much more convincing in the quest for EPL, CL, and a couple of minor English trophies.

Chicharito scores versus Guyana, also he made a good pass for the second goal by Oribe Peralta.
Mexico 5 - 0 Guyana.

"Welbeck needs to be more composed, not just his finishing, his decision making as well, many times we see him running through the middle only to refuse to release the ball to team mates out wide, and runs into traffic losing the ball."

That's it really. it's not that he's selfish (Ronald0) he doesn't even pound the ball towards the net, he just simply seems to lose himself and wastes precious opportunities to either shoot or pass, his running straight into defenders as if he's still thinking what he should do next, or fumbling over his own feet is so frustrating to watch.
