For the Villa game lets hope we play 4-4-2 as their CM's aren't anything to rave about so Carrick Fletch/Scholes should easily dominate as a 2 man midfield, Park on the left to track back on Ashley Young and Nani on the right. Berbatov + Rooney upfront so we can unlock the best defence in the premiership this season.

As I said in my previous post...it wouldn't matter if they needed to beat Chelsea to ensure a top 4 finnish, they'd still rather lose the match and come 5th than allow us to win the league! That doesn't matter though, we win all our remaining games this season we win a treble AWESOME!!

Regarding our tricky away ties, lets not get too bogged down, we've got great away records against them in the Prem:

Everton Away - Won 13 Drawn 2 Lost 2

Villa Away - Won 11 Drawn 4 Lost 2

Come on Reds, lets ave it!!!!

@ Gary

We create more when Owen's playing but what good does it do if these chances are not buried? The chances he gets are a result of lingering in the box and sticking to defenders shoulders; something that Berbatov never does because he constantly drops deep. Yet he managed to score the hardest chance of the game outside of the box yesterday. Luckily for us Rooney has hit form at the right time before the CC semi legs, so he became undroppable and the most effective striker in the 4-5-1. Think this is why we didn't miss Berb too much. Berbatov still hasn't found his form and his injury prevented him from getting much playing time. I agree that Berbatov does perform better against teams who park the bus as he is able to break them down, but he is still a crucial player for us even though he does tend to slow our attack at times. It's not because he is lazy/slow as some fans seem to label him but he's either creating space/holding up play. Personally I would never want him out of the side; he is a joy to watch.

I know mate, it was a little tongue in cheek! The majority of fans would definately be cheering Chelki on in that game, but I'm sure the players are professional enough to put a shift in!

Good point. Villa and Goodison Park are two of our favorite stadiums over the years. Last season was the first Premier League season that we didn't win at either ground. It surely won't happen again. In 17 years, we have won at both grounds in the same season 8 times.

King Eric @ 19:09: " Arsenal are pathetic. All the fancy eye of a needle shit on the edge of the box just fucking welly it."

That little pisser Nasri had a clear shot but was unwilling to use his left foot. It could have made for an interesting final twenty minutes.

@ mikekelly12 - you'd hope so m8 but I think we're clutchin' at straws here as I doubt it'd make much difference anyway, Chelski would still probably batter them! The only team they seem to play well against is us unfortunately, driven on by sheer desperation, defending their precious history (and it really is history lol) like a cornered rat!

King Eric, before you call Cesc a flat track bully, take a look at Rooney.

Only 4 fuckings goals against the top 10 teams!

Cesc had 2 absolutely marvelous passes today that Nasri and Arshavin should have scored off. Arshavin's volley saved by Cech and Nasri took his touch too wide.

Cesc is a very good player but i think he dosent influence the big games enough. Cant remember him having any good games against United and Chelsea.Rooney has scored twice against City(League cup semis),once against Spurs and twice against Arsenal. He was excellent at the Bridge against Chelsea and was unfortunate to end up on the losing side.Fabregas has been brilliant this season but games like United and Chelsea are the games you must stamp your authority in. Drogba and Rooney did that. Fabregas did not.The team let him down too, cant deny that

@McQueen

Yes. The Liverpool game will be vital. The way we have played against them in recent games we cant take a win for granted. Also Torres will be back by then for them.Hope we are up for that one because in the last 3 games United have been outplayed and outfought by Liverpool.Players need to understand it is not just another game and show some fight unlike the last 3 encounters.

The fixtures balacne themslves out i guess for both us and Chelsea

We have Chelsea, Liverpool,Spurs-Home and Villa,Everton,City-away
Chelsea have United,Spurs,Liverpool,Everton-away and City,Villa-Home

Chelsea have been good at Home this season but struggled away from home.United surprisingly have been the best away team in the league, ususally its Chelsea who are the best away team and United who are the best home team.

Rio consideres dropping the appeal. Is it good to have the captain of England in our team ?

Hi mate. Good morning.

Possibly it may help us. The FA usually are soft on The England skipper, certainly were in terry's case. He should not backtrack though, coz now the ban may get overturned now that he is the skipper and he may play against Everton. We Certainly need him for that game.

Maybe. But imagine for a second. Terry missed that penalty and now when England has the chance of winning the WC he won't be lifting the trophy with the eyes of the whole country and the whole world watching.
Silly proud mothefucker.

Just a question guys.... Do Own goals by the other teams count in the "Goals For" column for United ?

aig alex is god February 8, 2010
@Red Devil

Good afternoon mate.

Of course they do count. United are top scorers in the league now with 61 scored and 20 conceded, Chelsea are 2nd with 60 scored and 20 conceded and considering we have basically played for most part without Rio and Vidic, that is impressive when Chelski have had Terry,Carvalho fit for the wholse season which is their 1st choice pairing.

Morning guys. Getting ready for the second semester at college. :(

Anyway, I hope Rio doesn't drop the appeal. The England Captain is not supposed to be the FA's puppet. He has to get justice over this. Meaning that he should be cleared to play after the Villa game.

Good afternoon mates
Thanks for the info....It would be funny though if the own goals would be credited to the goals for column of the team scoring the own goal. At least that way, the team scoring the own goal gets something in return for helping the other team win ;)

Red Devil - good question for the monday morning ;)))

Costas - spot on, pal. also don't think he should drop the appeal. that's why i asked if heaving the captain if England in the team is a good deal.

aig - 27 i think. we are of the same age, our nickname starts with letter c, some people even confuse us after reading the posts in a hurry and we are afraid of getting married. :-D

He had a very slow start to the season but has really come into his own now!

hi mate. Carrick is a good player and i have always liked him. Its just that when the team is losing you blame the midfield and its inevitable the likes of Carrick and Park who get the stick, when the team is doing well like now, Rooney is the fire and hence he will get all the credit. This way Carricks contribution goes unnoticed when the team is doing well and he is given far less credit than what he deserves.Agreed that he is no Xavi or Pirlo but he does what he ahs too and does it pretty well.Has scored 4 goals(?) this season too.

AIG totally agree mate he is no Xavi but when we play counter attacking football like we have recentley then it is great to have a player with two great feet in a range of passing!

I would like to see him in more positions like when he scored on sat, a player who can strike a ball as well as he can should be nothing ten a season in a side of our calibre.

Feel myself he should get more. he has got 4 this season and just 17 goals in 176 games is less for someone like him. Hope he can get some more thie season

Starting wed hopefully, I said in Jan to the lads I go the game with that if we take maximum points from Burnley, Hull, Arsenal, Pompey, and Villa then I think we will win the league. Everyone thought I was on crack!

Two points is nothing in a title race, they only need to draw and we win for us to be top on goal difference plus the have to come to OT yet!

@ AIG and giggs11gerrard0

If you notice one of the key difference in the last few games and the rest of the season before that, it is the quality of carrick's passing....
Earlier on, he was lacking in confidence somewhat, and almost always passing either sideways or backwards...now you're not gonna score too many goals if you just keep passing sideways....teams will just sit off you and allow you possession where it doesn't hurt you in midfield, just like arsenal.
But in the last few games he has stepped it up, looked like the carrick of old and tried a few expansive passes....I think Sir Alex remarked earlier in the season that he too seems to start a bit slowly in the season and pick up speed later....Its about confidence for him I think....earlier, the focus for him was keeping possesion, now its about creating chances and openings...what a difference a change of mindset can make!
Well I hope the momentum keeps taking him forward, we could use a few assists and goals from midfield in this last part of the season.

They are right. I will be 27 this May. On the day of the Ch.League final. :D I actually got my degree for electronic engineering in the summer and now I am doing a post graduate program. It took me a while to get the degree!

Thanks for the wishes mate. I appreciate it. Good luck to you too. I had a feeling you were younger than me. I thought you were about 18 to 19 though. 21 is still a great age though! What I wouldn't give to be 21 again.

It's funny but with the CL final moving to Saturdays, it's the second time that it will be this close to my birthday in recent years. The one we won in 08, started on the previous day and ended on the first few hours of my bithday (according to Greece time anyway!).

My bithday usually comes before or during exams too. We have different exam systems I guess!

The good thing about 08 was that the final started on my nameday(my religion celebrates St Constantine on May 21st) and ended during my birthday. Yes, I celebrate two anniversaries on 2 consecutive days, but only get one present!
