A goals a goal ... though Lennon's play today might not be a good sign for Patrice and Nani. Hope they can keep him in check on Saturday and Rooney continues to score, even on mistakes like that ... which Gomes may oblige?

Heskey was shite. AGAIN. Owen or Defoe score them chances. Rooney got played too deep just so that Heskey could play. Lennon is gonna take some stopping.

It might have been a tap in from a keeper mistake but he was there *in case* the keeper made a mistake and it's great to see Rooney maintain his goals/games ratio for club and country.

I came to realise another reason why I cannot get excited or interested by Ingerlund. I just cannot for the life of me cheer for the likes of Stevie Me, Fat Frank, Tiny Tears and Barry. It sounds awful this but everytime I watch them I have a overwhelming feeling inside I actually want them to get beat. Aside from Wayne and the other United representatives I can’t stand the way the media will drool over them and hype them to fuck again. I really need to try and change my attitude before the World Cup.

Did Valencia score? Did you see Stevie Me's second goal celebration? I had to leave the room.

He needs to score more of such simple goals in red. He's gonna storm to both of Sir Bobby's records.

off topic. Derren Brown has just predicted the lottery numbers and got them all right, in the same order as well.

"Did Valencia score?" Yes he did, I just checked. A "rifle" of a shot by all accounts and set up the third when he beat his man and put in a low cross.

I am just pleased there has been no injuries.

I wouldn't mind seeing Ecuador beating Tevez and Heinze to the 4th place in the South America group.

Nani and Pat will have a job to do on Saturday chasing Lennon, he seems to be on fire these days. But I'm sure we'll handle it.

England are just building themselves up for a huge summer of dissapointment. Had Rio been the England captain i'd probably feel different but even the though of Tiny Tears captaining England to World Cup Victory makes me feel sick. Sure it's be great for Beckham but Rio and Rooney dont need England

Man Utd > England

ahh im english so no matter much i loathe tiny tears and stevie me i still support the national team, i guess you just learn to put your differences aside when it comes to your country. others feel indifferent so thats fair enough. england will only have a chance with the world cup if rooney is in the team. nuff said

25 goals in 7 years as an international, and he's getting better at scoring for England, Christ, how many goals could Rooney get? I agree with most United fans that England come a distant second to United, but I have always been proud of the fact my countries all time record scorer is a United legend, so it would be sweet if Charlton's record, when finally broken, is beaten by Rooney, not Lineker or Owen.
If Rooney keeps his form and fitness through to the World Cup England definitely have a chance, especially with Argentina, Portugal, and France all struggling to even qualify. And if England do win it, and he stars in the tournament then he should have a great chance of FIFA World Player Of The Year, how awesome would that be 12 months after selling Ronaldo!

And Valencia scored a beauty for Ecuador... Now lets see if they do the same against spurs... After our last game they'll be looking for revenge, and they are far from the laughing stock they were last year.

Another proof for the fact that Gareth Barry is extremely overrated. Dont think he did anything yesterday. Lennon was fire down the right, need to keep him in check. Stevie-G celebrated as if he landed on the moon !! Fuckin moron !!!

Well i watched the game and it was the first time since we beat holland in 1996 that i have actually felt proud of our national team. I hate to say it but prettyboy lampard, twatty terry and even fuckin s gee had pretty decent games and it was good to see our boys show some passion even if it was brought about by Bilic's comments. (was he stupid or what?)
But the boy god Rooney was on a different planet to the rest. I told all my mates at the time that they were watching a living legend in action on the top of his game. All i could do was watch each pass he made with awe and think this is how my dad felt when he was watching Georgie Best. The way Rooney would play the winger in over the top and just tempt the defender to intercept it and pull him out of position. beautiful. And some of the balls he was playing in even i didnt forsee.... and that never happens. Honestly.
I didnt think anyone could do it but Wazza has made me fall for my country again.
Just need Hargreaves back to get that cunt Barry out. :o)

With Ingerlund qualifying it means the papers will be full of it for a few days but can we now just get back to the league. Utd need to step and beat Spurs to make the most of that result against the Arse. Thank god for the league.
P.S Norn Ireland, a game too far.

There's a reason why world class England winger Lennon is at spurs all these years and there is a reason paddy evra has started in 2 champions league finals in 2 years. There's a reason why no big team has ever gone to buy Lennon and a reason why paddy evra has 3 and a half seasons of premierleague football under his belt and 3 gold medels to hang around his neck, so Lennon had 2 good games against evra last season what did spurs win last year by the way
now Rooney is the play maker of all play makers for England and he is the main reason out of a few reason why England could win the world cup I think there keeper and there defence are reasons why they won't, but watchin the England set up it made me think what's the fucking story with carrick , is he injuried because it must be a bad un if he can't play but played the champions league final with a brokin toe"

Morning.

gotta hate - I too am not sure what the crack is with Carrick. Was he dropped from the team altogether last night, he wasn't a sub. Don't know why he insists on playing Barry, the most over rated midfielder in the league.

Slow news day again. Come on Scott lad post summat to entice the dippers on here. I could do with a laugh!!

good morning everyone

King Eric.Hi mate. Personally i feel Barry is better than Carrick at the
moment.Carrick is struggling for form at the moment.Barry is a decent player.I think if Hargo is fully fit and in form he will be the first choice ahead of Carrick and Barry.

BTW wazza seems to get along very well with all the England players.had a lot of fun late in the game yesterday.

Glad to see Wazza get on the scoresheet, even it it was a gimme - it just keeps his streak going and confidence up. At this rate, he'll know that the chances will come and he'll definitely stick one in the back of the net, given a few good looks.

Also, for all the club vs country people, one of my friends mentioned to me that Rooney does not sing the national anthem in the lineup. If I recall correctly, didn't the Nevilles and Scholes also not sing? A little United conspiracy?

I really am glad there is such a good team spirit in the England squad - yet I do feel uncomfortable seeing Rooney warmly hug the likes of Lampard, Gerrard, Cashley and Terry.

Sitting in a room of Ingerland chauvinists, you'd have imagined that the opponents were Brazil '70, not Croatia '09. The opposition were appallingly bad which made Aaron Lennon's performance seem magical to the deluded - still, he did hit a target with his cross for the second goal !Contrary to NorwichRed, I thought that Rooney had a very, very quiet game and that his goal was a true gift.

That said, what Capello has done is proven that a keen eye for the possible is the pre-eminent requirement for top-flight management - something that Diego Armando Maradona clearly doesn't possess. Knowing that he has one world-class "withdrawn" forward - Rooney - and a number of attacking midfielders, he has turned coventional logic upside-down and used Emile Heskey as a "forward playmaker" (or bulldozer) in the sense that it is Heskey's power on the ball that occupies two of the opposition's defenders and provides the time for the two attacking midfielders (I count Rooney and Gerrard in this group) and space for the winger.

It's unconventional but it worked against a plodding, slow, and nervous set of Croatian defenders. It's also the way to get the most out of what he has available to him. The lop-sided formation is actually something like a 4-1-1-3-1 with one winger in the "3". Gareth Barry is left-footed which accounts for his choice ahead of Carrick - but both are just keeping the position warm in the case that Owen Hargreaves can be match-fit and play the holding role. Similarly, Aaron Lennon might have had a terrific game - and some of that has to be accounted for by how rarely he was rarely marked ! - but he is merely keeping the right-sided winger's position warm until the kid from TheArse, Theo Walcott, comes back to full match-fitness.

From a UTD perspective, only one injury from Ingerland-duty as Wesley Brown seems to have had something tweaked - again. That is relatively good news. But anyone who thinks that playing the defensive do-nut that is Glen Johnson ahead of Wesley against serious attackers is seriously delusional. But what would one expect from a gang of dead-heads who were only too happy to sing "Rule Brittania" with gusto after the brave lads beat a team of ElevenDeadMenWalking ?
